Sense of Purpose: The purpose of this flash animation seems to be to teach keybank account holders how to use their website. It's fairly easy to recognize because one; it points to the keybank website and two; it shows the number of steps at the bottom.

Audience: Like I mentioned before, the audience will most likely be keybank account holders, and maybe to a lesser degree, people who want to find out more information about the keybank web processes. Again, the main evidence is that it points to the keybank website.

Context: This animation will probably used most often at home, when the user does not have time to got to the bank or an ATM for a bank statement.

Strategies: Because the main goal of this animation is to teach (and the a lesser degree make it easier to) use the keybank website, it tries to guide the user through each process. He uses the strategy of magnifying the url bar to make it easier to see the exact url of the keybank website. He also tries to stick with the same color scheme as the keybank logo, maybe to give the user a sense of familiarity.

Medium: It's pretty safe to say that this is intended to be a web application, flash or no.

Arrangement: the main window displays the animation that is suppose to play and at the bottom of the application, buttons are displayed for each step.

Strengths: I like how the animation guides your eyes. For example, in the image posted, the web browser is grayed out, while the important information (the url bar) is prominently displayed through magnification.

Improvements: All in all, I think the application looks great, but I guess I would make the application more aesthetically pleasing. Maybe change the font of the description to the same or something similar to the keybank font.

Comment: This seems to actually be a great start. I'm not sure if this is a screenshot of the application itself or just a mock-up, but from what I can see, it seems to fulfill its purpose.

First Draft Comment

-The purpose of this is to instruct someone on how to use the Key Bank website, in a step by step process. It clearly says "Online Tutorials" in the upper left, with a step list on the bottom.

-The audience is Key Bank account holders, it seems implied from the purpose.

-The data map will probably be contained on the Key Bank website's help page, or maybe even at a kiosk located at Key Bank on how to use their website. One key reason it may be located at a kiosk instead of just at the help page online, is it tells you how to get to the homepage.

-Some key strategies that are used are the highlighting of the web address bar to give the audience focus on a particular part of the page, and a slight graying of the rest of the page. Also it appears to make use of the Key Bank colors, and a simple step by step navigable progress bar on the bottom. It suits its sense of purpose and audience to ease the possible difficulties in online banking, and it suits its context in being an interactive guide online.

-The data map is arranged with the website on the left, the instructions on the right, with the navigable progress bar on the bottom. Again, it suits its sense of purpose, the audience, and the context in the same ways as its strategies.

-I would say the strongest element of the data map is the website, and how it flows together well and brings attention to the right part of the page, without cluttering or making other things pop out that shouldn't.

-The weakest element of the page is probably the navigable progress bar on the bottom. The entire page flows well, including the progress bar, and I like the use of the red color. However, the serif font looks a little out of place, I would go with a sans-serif font, and try to add a little bit of effect to the button text, so it doesn't clash with the red background as much.

Overall, the data map is very well put together, and will turn out great if the current track is continued. It is nicely organized and seems real easy to use.

The purpose of this map is to show someone how to use the KeyBank site. The feature that shows this would be the text on the right hand side trying to explain what to do in the site. The audience is someone who is not experienced with using the KeyBank online banking and not that proficient at using the internet. The context of the map would be a help link for anyone who did not know how to use the site. Strategies used would be the information text box that explains what you need to do in the site itself. Also the magnification of the web bar that directs the user to what exactly they are talking about. The would be a website or something interactive in a website the being that it is helping you learn what is on the internet. The arrangement is the website is grayed out while the information it is trying to show you is in bright colors. The strongest part of it is the way it is set up and it pulls your attention to what it needs you to do. It’s a good start it just needs to be finished.

The purpose of this map seems to be clear; to help people get started with online banking.

The audience that would most likely be seen using this map would be people that are unfamiliar with the world of online banking. The title, ‘Online banking tutorial’, seems to best suite this type of audience.

The context would be on an online banking website, particularly the KeyBank website. This is because it is, in fact, a tutorial for KeyBank. You would probably find this under a link called ‘help’.

The strategy it uses is an easy-to-follow number system under the main picture which is… easy-to-follow… This strategy helps in the overall sense of the map, a tutorial to help people unfamiliar with online banking. The familiar number system can be recognized by anyone and the size of the buttons, very nice. They help with the general picture of familiarity.

The final medium would be either an interactive powerpoint presentation or a flash animation. This is most suitable for these type of follow-instruction tutorials.

The arrangement is very nice in that it is basic; which helps with the overall easy-to-follow idea. Picture -> Information -> next step. All follow left to right then down which is how people tend to read English. This direction of representation further helps with the step-by-step idea.

The strongest element would be the buttons at the bottom which are very convenient.
