All students have one overarching extra credit opportunity. To participate, a student must present a display over a pre-1900 rhetorician who we haven't covered in class at the English in Action Showcase. The Showcase is akin to a science fair, but for English projects. It takes place on Friday, Nov. 30, from 3:30-5:30 in McNeil 1051. The participant guidelines are here. The sign-up form is here. A student's display should discuss the thought of a pre-1900 rhetorician we have not covered in class. (Students should verify their subjects with the instructor before presenting.) Some displays are tangible items such as posters or trifolds (CSURF will print posters for you); others are laptop-driven presentations. Displays are multimedia objects, so elements such as images, tables, diagrams, video, and sound are encouraged. Students must be present during the English in Action Showcase to present their materials. Through this opportunity students may earn up to three percentage points on their course grades. Point assignment is completely at the discretion of the instructor. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. |
