Online Portfolio

The Online Portfolio demonstrates a student's growth as an author through textual artifacts and commentary. Each student will create an Online Portfolio using the portfolio feature of Blackboard. The Online Portfolio consists of three sections:

  1. Introduction: This section is a brief statement (~3 paragraphs) describing the contents of your Online Portfolio and how it showcases your ability and expertise as a writer.
  2. Assignments: This section contains three assignments drawn from your career at UNCW attached as artifacts with short descriptions. One of the assignments should be a critical essay using research. Another assignment should incorporate multimedia. The final assignment may be anything that you believe demonstrates your expertise as a producer of texts.
  3. Reflective Statement: This section is a brief reflection (~3 paragraphs) describing your experience at UNCW and your development as a producer of texts. Please identify specific courses, instructors, projects, or activities if possible.

Online Portfolios are used inside the department to assess programatic effectiveness and outside of the department for university accreditation purposes. For these reasons, Online Portfolios are a mandatory component of Senior Seminar courses. The grade for this assignment will be predicated on a student's ability to produce a complete, functional portfolio. The assignments contained therein will not be graded separately.

Please make sure to share your portfolio with the class. The course number is 16768.201310.
