- format:
- memorandum (usually only for print)

- closing (sign off)
- attachments
- single space, no indent, line break between paragraphs
- from a specific person to a specific person or group
- company-wide memos are possible and often necessary, but more focused ones often work better
- have a clear purpose
- Does the memo request action? Does it provide necessary direction? FYI documents are often weaker than purpose-driven ones
- 6 Cs
- concise, concrete, complete, correct, courteous, clear
- does a different job for a different audience than the press release
