King, Pamela E. “Religion and Identity: The Role of Ideological, Social, and Spiritual Contexts.” Applied Developmental Science 7 (2003): 197-204.

This paper deals with the formation of identity in teens through religion, mainly the Christian variety. King talks about the ways that teenagers search for their own idea of self in several areas. She shows how religion can be a part of the identity search and eventually be used to help teens find their identity. She shows that religion provides relationships and social context in order to help teens find their way. She also talks about how religion instills values and expectations into teens in order to shape who they are.

This could be a useful part to a paper because it provides a good definition of identity, and how it is acquired in teenagers. The paper also provides a strong correlation of how religion can play a part in changing someone’s identity.
