So instead of just listing things like my router has a SPI firewall, I worked on explaining how having an SPI firewall will allow a user to be more secure.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1213#comments Group 5 Sun, 03 May 2009 22:22:20 +0000 grfnpt 1213 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 Individual Activity Report http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1180
Its a day late, but this is my individual activity report from last week. During week fourteen, I along with the rest of my group mainly focused on completing the rough draft of our white paper. Because there was no reading response or comments to make about the reading responses, I had the entire week to just focus on this. I had a meeting with my group the week before were we had briefly discussed how we wanted to do the rough draft, and during the week we continued to refine it as new issues came up.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1180#comments Individual Activity Report Group 5 Tue, 28 Apr 2009 03:19:29 +0000 grfnpt 1180 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 Week 14 Individual Activity Report http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1129
This week was a productive week for me and everyone else in the group. Although there wasn't much group work to do this week, there was plenty of individual work to be done. On Monday I continued with my research for our white paper. I also did the white paper thumbnail assignment on Wednesday then had a group meeting, after we had all turned in our thumbnails and commented on each members in our group, to decide how we wanted the final design of our white paper to look. We ended up deciding to incorporate what we thought of as the best parts of each design for our white paper.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1129#comments Individual Activity Report Group 5 Mon, 20 Apr 2009 02:43:03 +0000 grfnpt 1129 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 Tech review 2 http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1099
For my final research blog I was able to find another technical review of the Netgear WGR614 wireless router. I found it at devhardware.com. This review was able to confirm many of the pros and cons that were listed in the first review that I read. It talked about the ease of setup as well as the high average speed and long range of the router.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1099#comments Research Blog Group 5 Sat, 18 Apr 2009 03:47:26 +0000 grfnpt 1099 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 NYTimes editor tech review http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1093
For my second research blog I started looking up the technical reviews for my Netgear router. One of the better ones that I found was at New York Times tech review. The editor reviewing this router did a very thorough test in my opinion as was able to point out many pros and cons of this router that may be important to a person looking to purchase this for a company's wireless solution.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1093#comments Research Blog Group 5 Sat, 18 Apr 2009 03:18:36 +0000 grfnpt 1093 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 Netgear wireless router research blog http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1089
For my first research blog I decided to start by looking at the manufacturers website for the Netgear WGR 614 wireless router. The address of the manufacturers website is netgear WGR 614. To me this seemed like the logical place to start doing my research for the router.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/1089#comments Research Blog Group 5 Sat, 18 Apr 2009 03:00:14 +0000 grfnpt 1089 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 White Paper Thumbnail Group 5 http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/994 http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/994#comments Thumbnail Group 5 Wed, 15 Apr 2009 22:46:39 +0000 grfnpt 994 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 Following the golden rule http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/972
This weeks reading assignment in TCT was all about ethics which they defined as "doing what is right." However after finishing the reading, it becomes clear that while defining ethics is very straight forward, solving some ethical dilemmas are anything but. For some ethical dilemmas just knowing what the right thing to do can be hard enough, and for many other ones, actually doing the right thing is usually very hard to do.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/972#comments Reading Response-Week 14 Tue, 14 Apr 2009 03:19:15 +0000 grfnpt 972 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 Week 13 Individual Activity Report http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/942
This week I had a group meeting on Sunday with Kristin and Joe. We worked on the Gantt chart, and decided how to divide up the white paper into the parts that we are each going to do. The initial way we were going to divide up research and work for the white paper had to be redone after receiving our instructor feedback though.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/942#comments Individual Activity Report Group 5 Mon, 13 Apr 2009 07:17:35 +0000 grfnpt 942 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1 Week 13 Group Activity Report http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/903
For week 2 my group started the week off with a group chat on aim on Sunday. During this meeting we discussed how we wanted to divide up the work for the rest of this project. We decided on how we wanted to divide up the different parts of the white paper as well as who would be responsible for posting any of group documents for the remainder of the project. We decided on what solutions for wireless networking we wanted to include in the white paper, and which group member would be doing the research on each solution.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1/node/903#comments Group Activity Report Group 5 Fri, 10 Apr 2009 20:59:02 +0000 grfnpt 903 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp09/421Y1
