Responses are brief documents that formalize a person's thoughts about reading material. They are submitted electronically and read aloud in class. They facilitate productive class discussions and help individuals prepare for exams and papers.
Effective Responses should:
- fit onto one 8.5" X 11" page (both sides)
- be submitted electronically as file attachments before class
- be accessible in class for reading aloud
- offer interpretations of and questions about the corresponding material
- connect the corresponding material with previous readings and outside sources
- include relevant quotations from the material
- identify an external text that may be relevant to the corresponding material or the course's theme
