The Initial Research Packet collects a student's preliminary investigation into a specific subject and its mappable sites. The packet should be a single .pdf document with the following material:
- A one-paragraph description of the map's overall subject
- MLA citations for three possible sources (data sets, books, news articles, etc.) relevant to the subject
- A list of five potential local geographical sites with explanation about why they would fit the subject
- Three ideas for possible data visualizations that could be created about the subject
- Three ideas for possible tangible placemarks that could be created about the subject
