Students will engage critically with the field of rhetoric by producing and presenting a scholarly essay in response to a disciplinary call for papers (CFP). The first step in this endeavor is to survey the academic landscape by reviewing CFPs and identifying a conference or journal call that would be appropriate for their work. (The class will undertake this process routinely throughout the semester.) Students then individually will compose a corresponding abstract that responds to a selected CFP. Students should meet the parameters of their selected CFPs as closely as possible. Abstracts will be submitted as attached files with copies of (or links to) the associated CFP.
