Students will deliver their in-progress research to the class in a presentation of approximately 5–10 minutes. Presentations are one of the primary formats of academic conferences; they blend speech with visuals to communicate current findings and solicit feedback. Presentations should refer to other studies to situate the work in its research conversation. Presenters should not simply read their paper drafts but rather shape the material to match the medium and situation. Excellent Presentations will be informative, cohesive, and within the time parameters.
A brief question and answer period will follow each presentation, and one point of the total assignment grade will be earned by asking at least one meaningful question. Presentations will be scheduled in advance, and presenters will have access to the classroom's instructor station. Students are not required to use any specific software to compose presentations, but several options are available, including:
