In my manual, I presented a guide for babysitting. I chose to pick this topic mainly because I could do my own thing with it and because I have a lot of experience in this area. I have been babysitting for many years, but when I first started out I really didn't know what to expect or even what to really do with the children. I think that having a manual available can be helpful.
I thought to divide my manual up by sections of different age groups because that made it the easiest to find exactly what age group you needed to know more aboutand were dealing with. I added the pictures mainly just for entertainment, and they really didn't serve too much of a purpose. I put them in to make the manual look nicer. I included a table of contents, mainly for guidance. Then, the most important points I included within the manual were different categories, like feeding, changing, playing, and putting to sleep. Those were what I thought were the main areas of babysitting. Also, some information that I presented in the manual was summed up from The National Child Care Information Center(NCCIC).

I chose to do my project on developing quality vocal sound, because I have been in choir and vocal training for many years. This topic is very familiar to me, and is something that I know the most information about. It could be helpful for someone beginning in vocal training, or someone that has been involved with music for many years. First, I chose to not include a table of contents or an index because the manual is not excessively long, and the five steps are easy to follow. Each step has a corresponding heading at the top of each page, so an aditional guide does not seem necessary. Lastly, one of my pictures is hand drawn, three are clip art, and two are from a royalty free image website. This site is http://www.fotosearch.com.

The topic I chose to explain was how to keep your car on campus as a freshman. When designing the layout to my manual, I realized there is no step by step process to this so the manual had to be in a paragraph form. So I had three main topics that were basic so the manual would not be confusing. I also realized that there would be no use for a table of contents or index with only three topics. I planned on having a map in my manual but soon found out that half the majority of the map would be highlighted for parking spots. Originally I had a brochure design for the manual but the tri-fold style would not have worked correctly so I switched to a booklet.

I did a laundry manual. I lamenated it and put it on a ring so it was easy for someone to take with them and waterproof. It is small so it is transportable.

I chose ice fishing safety as my topic because ice fishing is a hobby of mine. When I first started ice fishing I also had to look up safety tips. When I was looking for the tips I noticed that some of the websites focused on tips for helping those who have fallen. Some of the articles focused on how safe ice is at different thicknesses. I did notice that not one of the information sites was complete.
I chose graphics over clip art because I feel it looks more professional. The graphics came from the archives of associated press.
The tables and diagrams in my manual were created by me. This is because there aren't any tables or diagrams that aren't copyrighted.
The table for ice thickness does use some general information provided by the Minnesota DNR.

so, my manual is the one about, "how to make an iced mocha latte." i thought that this could come included in the box if someone bought an espresso machine or something. knowing that, that is why the size is smaller (so it would fit in the box). you can compare this to the side of a cereal box that has a recipe for cocoa-puff balls or rice-crispy treats or something. the manual doesn't need a table of contents because it is short.

This booklet is not meant to be an incredibly detailed instruction booklet. It is just a helpful guide to make an Italian BMT Sandwich and it is a fun way to make food (kind of like shaped jello). It is not supposed to be serious so I have different fonts and colors to make it more appealing and give it some pizazz. The pictures were not the best because I had no meat to take pictures of myself nor did I have a camera. It isn't perfect because I am computer illiterate so please give me some leeway and I will love you all.

My manual explains the basics of playing lacrosse because it is the best sport to play when you're bored in your dorm room and have nothing to do and want to get outside. I just want to say that I didn't print the text out in color because that's too expensive to do, however I have color pictures so when grading appearance I think we shouldn't be focused on having color as much as just looking nice.

For my manual i choose to do mine on smart shopping. I had some trouble with coming up with a topic. I ended up choosing this one because saving money is something most people try to do, and is a huge aspect of life. I felt that making a manual on smart shopping and how much one could save was an excellent idea because it is not anything i have seen before, and even though topics like this seem obvious to some there are some people who would really benefit if they knew how to shop smart!

My project includes the instructions on how to throw a Frisbee Forehand. My project inroles many visual elements to complete the task. It has much detail on the grip and throwing aspect of the frisbee. My project lacks a Phone number for contact inforation, due to that a phone number for this topic would not excist. The best way to get better at throwing a frisbee is by throwing it and practicing. This is why i made a seperate section just for practcing. it took myself over months to mater the art of throwing a Forehand. Practice makes perfect. Inplace of the phone number i belive is a partner or experinced player who could help you one on one.

This manual explains the basic fundamentals of swinging a golf club. There is alot of instruction and there are detailed pictures that correlate with each topic. The manual is broken up into different sections and then into different subsections. The sections are in order, and you won't be able to complete the golf swing without following this order. Each section gives detailed instruction, but does not have any steps. It is hard to explain an entire motion step by step without giving small tips along the way. The format for my manual is in order from a starting position to the finishing position, but it is not numbered along the way. It would be boring to explain movement step by step, rather a storyline approach suits this manual much better. It keeps the reader involved.

I chose this topic, because I have had ACL knee surgery; so I figured I might know a thing or two about it. I also found out more information from www.orthindy.com, which is where I had my knee surgery performed. I also found some pictures on an on-line website, because I could not find any that had a diagram of the knee; which is what I really wanted. That website is www.images.search.yahoo/search/images (click on images of ACL knee surgery) and I only used one picture from that website, which is on the front cover! I found all the other pictures on Mircrosoft Office on-line.

I believe that if a person who has
never seen a box score saw my manual, they would be able to do so afterwards.
I also believe this is the best type of manual for my subject. For a box
score, there is no need for an index, no need for multiple pages. I believe
readers would want a quick easy way to learn how to understand and read a box
score.

The manual that I wrote was for a guide to knitting. I deliberately kept the manual very simple so that the eyes are not drawn away from the diagrams that I used. Also I tried very hard to keep the steps very short and simple to be able to keep the reader's attention. Since it is so short I did not think a TOC would be a good idea.
