Sense of Purpose:
It is clear to me the purpose of this map is to instruct anyone how to properly shoot a jump-shot!
Audience:
This is a relatively difficult group to narrow down. From the map, I can tell it is targeting anyone interested in learned how to improve their jump-shot. Other than that, I can’t target a more specific audience.
Context:
I would imagine finding this in a gym or on a physical education exam.
Strategies:
I really like the strategies used to instruct the viewer how to shoot a jump-shot. The picture of the basketball player is crucial to the map. Without the picture, simple instructions would be difficult to follow. Also, I don’t know of many people who go to the gym and read posters with a lot of text. The circle indicate the body parts, the lines have short explanations. Overall, the strategies support the purpose of informing of the proper way to shoot a jumper as well as supporting that the context.
Medium:
I would imagine this would be a poster in a locker room or in a gym. I could also see it being on an exam!
Arranged:
The arrangement is simple and great. Going along with the purpose and context, the arrangement allows a reader to see the picture and associate that with a short description of how that body part is supposed to be used to have the perfect jump-shot. Anyone at the gym could quickly glance at the picture and diagnose their shooting problems based on their own form and shooting style.
Strongest Element:
As mentioned before, the strongest element is the depiction of the jumper!
Most improvement needed:
Obviously the lines must be filled with the names of the body parts and perhaps a short description of their function in the jump-shot. Other than that, I feel this map completes its purpose! The only other thing to improve on is if there is a way to target a more specific audience…
