Draft Design Plan: How to French Braid

Purpose: The motivation behind these instructions is to teach others the art of French-braiding hair. I hope the audience will learn how to create the hairstyle with ease and not become frustrated by the instructions. The event that caused me to choose to do these instructions is that people always ask me to teach them how to french braid. The best outcome of the instructions set would be that people learn the task effectively. The worst outcome woule be that they don't learn, don't understand the instructions, and become frustrated or confused. The communication will change the situation by educating people on how to French braid.

Audience: Characteristics of the audience insclude: curiosity, interest in one's looks or other's looks, interested in beauty/hair, frustrated/bored with their current hairstyle, or just simply wanting to learn something new.

Context: There is no particular occasion to learn how to french braid, it can be anytime. Most any age can learn, probably 8 years and older. Men and women can both learn. The setting of completing the instructions will most likely be at a home or hair salon.

Medium: I plan to use clear, consise, and close-up pictures focused on the hand-motions and the step by step progress of a french braid. These photos will be placed beside each sequentially listed written form of the instruction. A video posted on YouTube would also be an effective medium to use when communicating these instructions.

Arrangement: Parts of the communication will include: A Bold Title, numerical/sequentially listed simple instructions with pictures beside them visually displaying the steps.

Testing: To tell if the instructions are successful, a usability test will be enacted using the instructions, and then the audience will summarize on their experience learning how to french braid, and point out flaw and potential improvements for the instructions. The testing will prove if the terminology makes sense, the instructions are clear and consise, the pictures are easy to view and the audience understands how to create a french braid successfully.

1 - Although all of elements

1 - Although all of elements were covered thoroughly I would have to say purpose was covered the most, and it provided a lot of helpful details of her plan.
2 - No particular element stood out as not being thorough enough.
3 - I believe this draft plan perfectly fits the intended model.
4 - I believe that if any part of the draft plan were to change, the end result wouldn't be as good, its set up like it should be.

feedback

1. I would say that your purpose was most thoroughly explained. It was helpful to hear your personal experience because I'm sure many people have been asked the same question. Your testing was also very clear and concise. It will be very useful to have an audience perform the task before you film the finished product and put it online.

2. Your arrangement was a little short and not very descriptive. It could have a little more detail on how the video was going to look and maybe a little more information on what the written instructions would look like.

3. I believe that your instruction set connects well with your intended end result. I think by putting it in a video more people will be likely to understand and succeed in creating their own french braid.

4. If it was an audience of men, then the vidoe would have to be made with someon braiding another person's hair. If it was done with the person braiding their own hair, then the man would not understand how to do so.
