Purpose – My purpose in creating this communication is to present a simple, and easy way to improve the looks of ones yard. My hope for this communication is to show even the laziest of college students that a few simple steps combined with the dedication of no more than an hour can drastically improve the look of ones yard. The best possible outcome is a clean, fresh looking yard that will literally improve the mood of whoever completes the work on it.
Audience – The Audience most likely to read these instructions are college students with a lot of time to complete work, but not much motivation. Also, these instructions would be beneficial to young families moving into a house with a yard for the first time. Gender and race won’t play a part into my audience at all.
Context – These instructions will be found pinned up along the hallways of schools billboards, as well posted on many How-to websites. By seeing these in full form, from beginning to end, it will be far easier to follow them.
Strategies – These instructions will contain easy to follow, and easy to perform steps involved in cleaning up a yard. All things contained in the instructions are likely to be found around the house, and if not, will be items easily borrowed from a neighbor. The instructions will list steps that will take no longer than an hour, however, will have a great effect on a landscape. The idea behind this particular set of instructions is to motivate a group that typically lacks motivation, however, the results will show that a small amount of work is overwhelmingly worth it.
Medium – My current plan is to turn my instructions into a pamphlet, which will have all instructions and pictures inside, these pamphlets will be tacked onto boards around the halls of the school. An electronic version will also be posted on various websites with a printable version.
Testing – I will clean up my yard, first with the basic steps, running through all the steps presented in the first/easier plan, and then afterwards, I will run through the steps of the more advanced plan. Taking pictures throughout.
response-How to Clean Up/Improve a Yard for a Beginning Landscap
The purpose is a very strong element in the design plan. It motiviates the reader to want to improve their own yard. Also, it targets an age group that is likely not that concerned with their yard that could greatly benefit.
All the elements were presented very thoroughly although the context could have possibly been expanded some to include when the audience will encounter the information.
The proposed instructions outline all the elements of landscaping very clearly and motivates the reader to try them. This is also what I aim to do in my instruction sets.
If the medium were expanded to include some more elements you could potentially attract a broader audience.

The strategies section seems to be covered most thoroughly here. It is good that you talk about how the instructions will be simple and easy to follow, will take up a short amount of time, and will use tools, etc. that are likely to already be found around the house.
I think the context section is covered least thoroughly. Maybe focus more on where your audience will be: outisde at their home or helping someone else at their home, any time of the year? any weather? any particular time of day? weekdays or weekends?
This set of instructions connects with my topic "how to french braid hair" because it is geared at teaching an audience hot to improve their hair, as yours is teaching an audience how to improve their yard.
If these instructions were designed for children doing their chores in the yard as the audience, the instructions would obviously be more simple, require an adult to help with the tools, and may have more colorful media and more pictures.
