Community Advocacy Project: ACE
Proposal Draft
------------------------------------------
PURPOSE
To change the way that UNCW’s Association for Campus Entertainment (A.C.E) chooses upcoming concerts, movies, theatrical performances and other student-oriented events on campus. By achieving this goal, students will have the opportunity to be more of a part of deciding what entertainment they want to see in the upcoming school year, thus promoting A.C.E and the overall popularity of campus events.
AUDIENCE
This advocacy project will be geared mostly towards the students at UNCW, but may also be of interest to locals of the Wilmington area that frequently browse the upcoming performances on campus.
CONTEXT
Our group plans to use Face book as our medium in order to reach as many students as possible via the Internet. Being as the vast majority of UNCW students have a Facbook account, we feel that this will be the most effective tool. In order to keep consistent contact with these people we will create a Facebook group to automatically send an e-mail to these people every time the group is updated or events are added. Another form of advertisement we plan to utilize are flyer's. The plan is to create and design the flyer in Adobe Fireworks and have about 250 printed. Then the four group members will proceed to hang them up around campus and around the immediate Wilmington area. The third form of Media as well as the third form of advertisement we will use is a website. A website will be created specifically for this purpose and dedicated primarily for this purpose. The website will feature the same content as the facebook group but in more depth. The website will feature pictures, links and reviews of upcoming performers and artists.
MEDIUM
Possible media to use:
*Twitter
*Facebook Group and/or page
*Page on ACE's official website (http://student.uncw.edu/org/ace/)
*Video (to be included on Facebook/Ace site)
*Web Forums
STRATEGIES
Once all of our media is established, obviously we will need to find ways to make UNCW students aware that these online resources are available for them to use and influence. It is fairly easy to locate all listed UNCW students that are a member of Facebook, so a mass invitation will be sent to all of them to join our group, or at least be able to view it. Twitter, however, is not able to seek out students of any university, so most likely we will just have to advertise that we are on Twitter on our other media.
