Google Maps activity

Our class Google Map appears below:

Working in groups, we will plot a local data set to our collaborative map. (See the Hurricane Information Maps, the San Diego Fires map, and the blog Google Maps Mania for some examples of collaborative plotting.) Don't limit yourself to obvious data sets; use the "Mapping" episode of This American Life for ideas about how to view your local environment in new ways.
Once your group has determined what data set to plot, go to the main page for our class Google Map, log in to your Google account, and click the "Edit" button to begin making changes. Make sure to click "Save" while you are working. When you are finished, click "Save" one last time and then click "Done" to shift out of editing mode.
We will work on this activity in class on Wednesday, Jan. 16, and we will finish it up on Friday, Jan. 18. This activity is a 2 point homework grade.
