I feel that this is a very organized and easy to read data map. The map flows from left to right and from top to bottom on the page. This is easy to follow since it is how we normally read text on paper. The windows around each section help to block out all the other information on the page while we are reading that one section. All the extra data is organized away from the main 6 points and helps to minimize clutter.

While maybe not the best

While maybe not the best visually, this data map is one of the best at providing the data and information to the user the quickest. Through the use of the horizontal bars, you get a sense of the actual distance each "era" could travel as a child....even though the 1978 category doesn't have an exact distance displayed on the x-axis, you still know that it's a little more than 300 yards but less than a mile and that the overall distance is still deceasing...nice work

Personally, I'd switch the years with earliest on bottom, and latest on top, but otherwise it looks good.

Clearest Distance

I think the bar graph approach does the best job at conveying distance and time. Although the spacing of the y-axis is even, it still gives a feel of length in between the generations. Great job!

This map is of my high school career in the drumline. It maps each person in the marching percussion section, and what instruments they went to as the years progressed.
