Individual Comment subject, purpose, audience, and context.
The subject of our groups presentation is to give the audience a reason to join Chapter One and possibly attending the meetings. The emphasis in our table tents is that anyone and everyone can join. People with common interests in literature, film, and american studies can get together and discuss their common interests. We have made sure to keep the information all positive because the purpose of the table tent is for recruitment. Secondly, the poster we are creating in our group is to draw people to Chapter Ones big event "POETRY SLAM". It is a very aesthetically pleasing poster that has the relevant information, the date, the name of the event and the sponsoring clubs. It should draw people to the event.
The purpose of our group is to create two different mediums that will draw new students from different majors to the UNCW English Club. Creating a Poster to draw people to the main event and table tents to inform the uniformed about Chapter One.
The Audience for our Groups project is the students with interests like those of Chapter One. By helping spread the word through our table tents we will try to achieve the goal of recruiting more people to the Chapter One club. The primary audience is the audience that will see the poster and table tents first hand. By word of mouth we hope that the information spreads from secondary sources to our primary sources so the right people are able to come to Chapter One. The tertiary audience may become involved if it is brought to their attention.
I am not sure where this presentation will be given, but if it is in the classroom, the room is set up so that people are able to hear the presentation well and focus can be given to the presenter. A projector should be available and a desk may be as well. The use of a computer should be permitted because a lot of the work we have done has been graphically based. The economic context is not really necessary for us to be concerned about with this project. We will neither affect it or make money using this presentation. The only issues around our paper is the use of different graphics that may break some copy right laws.

Subject
In general, the audience needs to be informed about the existence of UNCW's English Club, Chapter One, because currently many students are not even aware that it exists. Once they've been made aware, they need to know what makes the club interesting and why they might like to be a part of it. They need to know factual information such as the meeting time and place for the club (which for the current semester is at 6:30 on Monday evenings in Java City in Randall Library), as well as information regarding the club's activities, events, discussions, and what goes in during meetings.
Purpose
My goal is to persuade students at UNCW to join the English Club, Chapter One, and take advantage of what they have to offer, which includes discussions regarding books, film, American Studies, popular culture, and virtually anything that can be related to English that they find interesting and wish to discuss. At the very least, I hope to persuade students to look into their organization, even if they do not decide to join.
Audience
While students might assume the English Club is primarily (or only) for English majors, we find it important for Chapter One to spread the word about the fact that they are not exclusive and any student may join regardless of their major. We have included this information on both of our promotional/recruitment materials.
Our primary audience consists of UNCW students in any and all majors who we would like to recruit. Our secondary audience consists of teachers and academic advisors who might assist students in making their decision regarding joining Chapter One and how it can benefit them. Our tertiary audience might include other student organizations such as the school newspaper, The Seahawk, whose writers might cover events hosted by Chapter One such as our Poetry Smackdown. Our gatekeepers are the women who lead the club and are responsible for all executive decisions made regarding Chapter One.
Context
My group has created two materials: a flyer to be posted inside bathroom stalls in bathrooms all throughout campus (mostly with heavy and diverse student traffic such as in Fisher, Wag, Hawk's Next, the Union, etc.) as well as a pre-roll advertisement to be played prior to film premieres and various events that take place in UNCW's Lumina Theater. The location of this pre-roll advertisement will hopefully appeal to students in other majors outside of English - specifically film and theatre.
The physical context for both materials are in convenient locations on campus that will be inevitable for students to view while they partake in other activities. The economic context of our materials includes a small fee for the leaders of Chapter One, but zero fee for students, members, and potential members. We don't have any issues regarding the ethical or political context of our materials.
The group presentation - Rhetorical situation
Subject
Our client, Chapter One, is looking for new mediums of recruitment and event promotions. Therefore, they asked us to help them improve their advertising and recruitment means in order to increase student awareness of the club and the number of members. We will thus show them a Powerpoint presentation with the solutions we would recommend to achieve such goal.
Purpose
As previously mentioned, our goal is to help Chapter One build a strong, inexpensive but effective advertising campaign to promote the English Club and its events and increase its chances to appeal to more members.
Audience
Two members of Chapter One, the President of the club and an Advisor, will come to our presentation. We will need to consider their restricted time and, above all, their limited budget for the improvement of the advertising.
Context
We wil be presenting our recommendations in the classroom, using an overhead projector and a computer. We will need to make sure we do not infringe any copyright, especially for the logo and the materials that are to be shown during the presentation. In addition, we will have to respect the ethical context while presenting the mediums of recruitment and events. Indeed, our client may use the latter, so it is important to make sure the content does not impact on any rights, laws, or issues of common concern.

Subject
The audience needs to know how our promotional materials will benefit Chapter One. My group is creating table tents to help raise awareness on campus about Chapter One and to hopefully recruit more members. We’ve also designed a poster for the poetry slam, their big event of the year, as a way to market the event around campus and gain more participants. Our presentation should clearly explain why we chose these items and give an overview of their design and features.
Purpose
We want to persuade Chapter One officials and their academic advisor to use our promotional materials in their efforts to recruit more members to the general club and bring in more participants to their poetry slam event. We feel our materials will help bring in a wide variety of students, from various academic backgrounds, and will greatly benefit Chapter One.
Audience
Our audience will be composed of the Chapter One president and the club’s academic advisor. The president of the organization represents the primary audience and the advisor is our secondary audience.
Context
We’ll be giving these presentations in the classroom, so any computer equipment or other materials we need will be available. The size of the classroom is fine for the type of presentation we’ll be giving. There aren’t really any economic or ethical contexts to consider.
Specifics to look at when Presenting
Subject:
The subject for this Presentation is the recruitment of new individuals for the on campus English club, Chapter One.
Purpose:
To put together a professional presentation including two materials to draw in our clients. Our clients will want to see well put together materials that will attract students to their club which will help the club to grow and become a more well attended club
Audience:
The President of the English department and Adviser. These are our primary audience, however other students should be in mind as well while creating materials because what attracts students is what our clients will be looking for when choosing and evaluating our materials.
Context:
Our presentation will take place in a small classroom with computers, screens, and other technology. This is beneficial for presenting materials requiring such technology. Positioning of speakers explaining materials and how they work to draw in the student will need to be considered so that vocal production is not muffled and open focus to client is not disturbed.

Subject
The subject of our presentation will be to give our audience sufficient information as to why our group’s materials will benefit Chapter One and help with future club needs. Our presentation will stress the benefits that come from having a creative poster for their annual Poetry Slam event that will possibly attract new members. We will also emphasize how having an advertisement on the Wagoner Hall table tents could also be beneficial to Chapter One in the long run.
Purpose
The purpose of our presentation is to persuade the Chapter One representatives that our materials will help bring in new members of all academic backgrounds and have the capability of being reused if need be for future events.
Audience
The audience at our presentation will be comprised of Chapter One’s president, who represents the primary audience, and the Chapter One advisor who is considered the secondary audience. There is also a gatekeeper in the audience, Tirrell, who will be assessing our group’s ability to present the information coherently (among other things).
Context
Concerning the physical context of the room, there are multiple computers as well as a projector already available for our use. It is a fairly small room so no microphone of any sort is needed and we will not have to stand behind a podium; the client will be seated at a table in the center of the room and we will have to present at the front of the room. We will have to stress the economic context of the materials because the group, Chapter One, has made it clear that they have budgetary constraints. In short, we will employ the fact that our materials are capable of being reused for future events. There should be no problem with the ethical context as, by the time we are giving this presentation, any issues with the materials have been reviewed and changed accordingly. There should also be no political context issues with our presentation.

Subject
The subject for this presentation will be the recruitment of students that attend UNCW that are not currently in the club regardless of major.
Purpose
The purpose of our presentation will be to convince the coordinators of Chapter One that our recruitment materials will be the most beneficial and bring in more new members.
Audience
There are two main audiences which are two members of Chapter One, the President of the club and an advisor. We'll have to make use of our brief time and keep the presentation concise.
Context
One of the main concerns expressed was the lack of money to do any extravegant ideas. So along with our presentation using the computers, and other technology in the room we should keep in mind to how our chalkings/bookmarks will be low budget yet the most effective in recruitment.
response #7
The subject of our group's presentation is The English Club, Chapter One and the associated events. The purpose is to inform our people about Chapter One so that they have a better understanding of what Chapter One does and the time and place for meetings. We also want to inform people of upcoming events that are presented by the English Club to ignite awareness and excitement for the club. We also want to make it clear that Chapter One is not solely for English Majors, but for anyone who is interested. Our audience is UNCW students who may find interest in such a club. The context is generating interest and increasing group membership within a university. We will use materials that are compatible with a campus environment such as chalking sidewalks and handing out book marks with information that might be regularly used and therefore reinforce the Club information.
Reading Response #7
Subject
The subject of our presentation is to discuss ways that will help Chapter One increase its members. Whether by recruitment into the club or by increasing the number of students at events, we essentially want more students to become involved with Chapter One.
Purpose
Our goal is to recruit more students to become involved with Chapter One.
Audience
The audience for our presentation will be all of those involved with Chapter One. It is important that each member of Chapter One is aware of our purpose and what needs to be done. The audience for the actual steps we will take to achieve our goal will be the students at UNCW.
Context
We will present two different tools to our clients: A brochure and an event flyer. We will pull up both the brochure and flyer on the computer screen, which will be provided by our instrcutor, as well as hand out a hardcopy of each. As we give our presentation, we will be standing out in the open while our audience most likely sits at the conference table.
Response # 7
The subject of our group presentation is going to be the general audience on campus as we are attempting to intrigue interest in more students to be a part of the club. Our subjects will be people that share a general interest in reading but are don't know what Chapter One is and don't know if they can be in it or not. The purpose of our slide that we are going to roll as an advertisement at lumina is to spread the word about Chapter One. We want to display when the meetings are, and let people know that they do NOT have to be an english major to participate in the club. We also want to let them know where the meetings are and what types of things Chapter One does. We did this in hopes of recruiting more members and generating more interest in Chapter One so their membership will raise. We also did posters to advertise for the club which we plan to hang on the bathroom stalls. There are tabs that you can pull off to save an e-mail address given as contact information for joining Chapter One. This is targeting those who are interested in joining the club and giving them a way to follow up with providing contact information. Our audience is going to be our clients who are already members at Chapter One. They have given us a basic idea of promotional material and such that they would like to see and we have taken that into our own hands and created materials for them. We must present our materials to the audience and explain the intended use for each thing we made and how we plan on attracting new members to Chapter One. We will let them know we created tabs on one of our posters to tear off and save their e-mail addresses and that they should expect e-mails coming in from newly interested Chapter Oner's. The context is in the format of a poster for promotional value and also a slide to be played during the credits and advertisements at Lumina Events.

Subject:
The subject of working with Chapter One is to come up with new ideas to get people to join this english club. We want to share information about this club with others to interest them in joining, or at least looking into the group instead of walking right past the clubs table. We want to share what the groups activities are, their events, the specifics about the club and what time the meetings are.
Purpose:
The purpose here is to bring as many peole into the club as possible. We plan to do this by showing all the activities that take place and what the club is about.
Audience:
Our audience here is college students at UNCW. They have tried to pull students in for semesters now but have not been succesfull, possibly because students think that just because it's an english club that it's just for english major. This club needs to make sure that students know that majors & non-majors are able to join.
Context:
My group has decided to paint the rocks on campus to bring in members as well as making a tri-fold poster board for events. We plan to paint the rock with the logo and meeting times, plus a few words here or there that show what the club does. not alot can fit on the rock because we don't want to over crowd it, but we hope to put all the basic information on it. Our tri-fold poster board will have alot more information. We plan to do a 'past, present, future' type thing. When looking at the poster board, the left will be everything they have done in the past, the middle will be what they are doing now, and the right will be what plans to be donw in the future for their club. We hope that this will bring in peoples attention and interest in joining this club.

When considering the subject of my group's presentation, the first thing I think of is the information that the audience needs, and the information they don't need, to take action. Since the purpose of our presentation is to recruit new members to Chapter One, it is important to think of the information the audience needs to come to the meetings. The subject needs to be clear and straight to the point, conveying Chapter One and what they are, where they meet, when, and what time. This is all the information that is needed by our audience to take action. Not everyone who goes to UNCW knows exactley what Chapter One is, so our group defines Chapter One as a spunky book club. On our materials, which are a book mark and sidewalk chalking, we will include all of this information. Our purpose is to get as many people to join as possible, making sure everyone knows that this book club is not just for students with English as their major, so the majority of our materials include information that lets our audience know that this club is for anyone who enjoys reading and book discussions. When analyzing our audience, it is important to keep our materials to recruit people open and available to any students that are interested. Our client said that the book club is meant to seem fun and more laid back, not serious. So another aspect to keep in mind while recruiting new members is to keep our subject, or information, in a light-hearted manor. Our context of our presentation is in our English classroom, so our group needs to be familiar with how to properly work and display our information using the teachers computer. We need to also take into account the context that our audience will be receiving our information about Chapter One meetings. Our physical context for our recruiting audience will be on the sidewalks of UNCW and stategic places to give away book marks. One last and very important context to keep into mind is the economical context of our groups presentation. Since we are sidewalk chalking, and we already have those supplies, this is at no cost to the client. Our bookmarks however will cost some money, but my using little amounts of paper, and hopefully green materials it will be of low cost.
Group
Subject: To help chapter one recruit new members my drawing attention to the club by such things as painting the Rock and to a tri-pod that will be on the table at events.
Purpose: The purpose of the Tri-fold is to help draw members in with a poster that is filled with information so that they can see what the club has done in the past, present, and future. We will include such things as the poetry slam and book meetings as well as movies that they have went and seen together. The poster and the rock painting is designed to make it seem as if Chapter one is a very dominant club on campus with plenty of members and that they have loads of fun.
Audience: Is basically meant to influence anyone who happens to come to the tabel whether they be english majors or not.
Context: Will be in a proffesional manner. we have all of our materials there and we will be prepared to speak.
