Reflective Website Project

Summary:

The Reflective Website Project asks students to produce a website that reflects on their course experience. The website will be produced by modifying provided templates. This project will allow students to work with HTML and CSS code and give Professional Writing majors experience creating an online portfolio, which is a requirement of the capstone (ENG 496) course.

Requirements:

  • Websites must be hosted on students' university web space
  • The header image and background color of the provided templates must be changed
  • Websites must consist of at least two pages:
    • A home page with a reflective statement that responds to this prompt (you can draw from your projects' Postmortems):
How has your understanding of writing and technology changed from the beginning of the course to its completion? What knowledge and skills have you developed in the course and how might they be used in the future?
    • An assignments page with links to course projects and brief descriptions that use class concepts to explain how they function rhetorically (you can draw from your projects' research and analysis documents)

Completing the Reflective Website Project precisely as described will earn a student nine out of ten possible points. To obtain ten out of ten points, a student must augment his or her website by, for example, adding additional pages or media or significantly restyling the provided templates. This is an opportunity to experiment in this medium and expand your abilities.
