Service Learning Project

Summary:

For this assignment, students working in groups will create promotional materials for Panacea Brewing Company, a local kombucha producer. Student groups will identify and develop a material they believe will meet the client's needs. Groups also will create a corresponding report that articulates how the promotional material effectively meets its rhetorical goals. Groups will deliver their material and report in a culminating presentation.

Client representatives will provide guidance during project development and offer feedback on draft materials. Their input on final products will have a direct impact on students' project grades. To facilitate project management, students will maintain a Gantt chart, submit weekly individual progress reports, and compose a cumulative postmortem.

Through this project, students will practice working collaboratively to produce professional materials for an authentic client. In so doing, students will demonstrate their understanding of audience awareness, research, ethos, professionalism, and document design.

All materials created for this project become the exclusive property of the client. If clients are unable to provide project feedback within an appropriate time frame, the instructor will make all project grading decisions. The instructor retains final authority over all project and course grading issues.
