    Reading Response 2

Select ONE of the following prompts pertaining to The Shape of Reason chapter 2 ("Critical Reading") and respond in approximately two paragraphs.

    • Describe an experience when you initially believed something you read and then later discovered that it was not true. How did this experience impact you? How do you now engage with information differently as a result?

    • Identify an idea that you agree with only partially. How has the quality of the reasons in support of this idea shaped your agreement with it?

    • How would you define a good reason? Find a specific example of something that you consider to be a good reason and explicate why it is effective. Then similarly clarify why a specific bad reason is ineffective (taking care not to attack a straw man).
