Design Plans for Instruction Sets

Audience of people trying to tone their body
Purpose: I am communicating with this audience because I would like to give them an effective way to execute a bench press in order to achieve a toned, not bulked up body. I hope that after reading and using my instructions, this audience will achieve a more toned look. I understand that a lot of people have different goals that they would like to achieve by working out. Some would like a bigger body, and some would like a toned up one, this fact made me want to communicate with the latter. The best outcome would be that my instructions be effective and give the audience good results. The worst would be the opposite and have no one from the audience I am communicating with achieve their goals. This instruction set will provide a valid and proven way to chisel up your chest by introducing proper form and execution of this exercise.
Audience: This audience is generally made up of the age group from 18-35 and could be either male or female. This audience would like to achieve a more toned up body rather than a big bulky one. They must be willing and eager to achieve their personal goals in order for these instructions to be effective. When they read my instructions, they will probably be ready to work out or getting ready to work out so they will use these instructions almost immediately. Because of this, the instructions must be clear and concise, yet descriptive enough to give the reader knowledge about how to perform the exercise.
Context: The instructions would be a step by step process with tips on how to do the exercise effectively. They could either be online or on paper, posted on a website, health magazine, or in the gym. This variety would appeal to the audience because the members of the audience could prefer one context over another.
Strategies: I will use both visuals and plain language in these instructions so people know both how to do it and can see how to do it. These instructions could also be done in a video format if they were to be posted online or on youtube.
Medium: As mentioned before, I could put these instructions on paper, in pictures, or in a video and they would all be effective. Some people might be able to remember what they saw in a video online, while some people might need a hard copy to bring with them to the gym and refer to it as they workout.
Arrangement: The instructions will be arranged in step by step order and each step will be accompanied by a picture. Or, these instructions could be done in a video format and have text for each step while the video plays. Either one would be effective.
Testing: To test these instructions, I would have to practice them myself or give them to someone who would be in this audience to test out.

Audience of people trying gain more muscle

Some would like a bigger body, and some would like a toned up one, this fact made me want to communicate with the former. The best outcome would be that my instructions be effective and give the audience good results. This instruction set will provide a valid and proven way to bulk up your chest by discussing proper form and execution of this exercise for these results.
Audience: This audience is generally made up of men in the age group from 18-35. They could be bodybuilders, athletes, or anyone just trying to get more muscle. Generally, women are not in this audience. This audience would like to achieve a bigger body and add more muscle to their physique. They must be willing and eager to achieve their personal goals in order for these instructions to be effective. When they read my instructions, they will probably be ready to work out or getting ready to work out so they will use these instructions almost immediately. The purpose for individuals

The purpose for individuals trying to tone their body was very informative. He gave his desired target audience and why he wished to communicate with them. he also included both best and worst outcomes.

Testing could use a bit more information. Maybe include ways you would moniter a test subjects improvement.

Both of our instruction sets seak to inform people. His first set targets those who are inexpereinced, like mine.

If he picked a younger age group his steps would need to be shorter and less complicated and perhaps with different exercises that are safe for young children.

The purpose for individuals

The purpose for individuals trying to gain more muscle was a lot like the first instruction set but still very effective. He gave his desired target audience (men interested in gaining muscle mass)and why he wished to communicate with them. he also included both best and worst outcomes.

Testing could use a bit more information. Maybe include ways you would measure increase in size and strength.

Both of our instruction sets are to give tips to a target audience.

If he changed his starategies to include more information on a body building diet he would have to add that in after and before every workout. It would lead to a much longer instruction set, but it would be much more effective.

Peer Review

Set for toned body:
1. I think that purpose and audience are covered most thoroughly in this instruction set. I think its great planning to have the audience narrowed down to a specific age group, and aimed at people who just want to tone.
2. Out of the seven I think that medium is covered least thoroughly. I would like to know if you plan to construct these as though they were in an online format and available to gyms or individuals for print, or if you will strictly construct them for a web page, and how this affects your design (including your use of a possible video).
3. The proposed instruction set is similar to my own because it deals with a specific group of people, yet these individuals will come from all different backgrounds.
4. I think these instructions will change depending on what medium you choose: print, or online. Online opens up the possibility of a video, and because these instructions could be posted in a gym, this will have an affect on the size and type of fonts and graphics you choose.

Set for muscle gaining:
1. Because medium and context are the same for both sets, the elements covered most thoroughly are medium and audience. I found it interesting that you narrowed it down specifically to males, 18-35, who want a bigger body, and think that this will help a lot in writing your instructions.
2-4. To avoid repeating myself from the answers above, I think that context and medium are least covered and you will find this explained in the previous post. Just narrow down what you want to include (video?) and on what medium, for this will greatly affect your arrangement and strategy.
