A metaphor is when an object is used to describe something else because its properties resemble what is being described. The above picture is a cartoon showing the use of a metaphor.

Ex: The turd in the punch bowl aka the party spoiler.

Ex: Couch Potato = Lazy person

Ex: Carrying the weight of the world = having too much to do
