Ehow
http://www.ehow.com/how_2134583_losing-keys-cell-phone-wallet.html
I think that this how to guide on keeping track of our keys, wallets, and cell phones is very effective. Even though most people remember where they put their keys, wallets, and cell phones, some people, like myself lose or cannot remember where they put their things. This How to guide is very simple but I feel that it would be very effective because in its directions it tells you where to put your things, it helps you get yourself into a habit, and it also reminds you to put your things in the designated area (where you picked out).
http://www.ehow.com/how_2052651_say-hello-goodbye-german.html
The second how to guide is how to say hello and good bye in German. This guide is very ineffective due to the fact that it has words on the screen that you can’t figure out to say. If the guide offered a auto preview of the word then I can see it being effective, but for example this is one of the words you have to figure out how to say,Tschüß.

Effective & Not
http://www.ehow.com/how_5320400_keep-home-safe.html
This link is not effective in my opinion, or at least it is not effective to most college students. It has 8 steps included on how to make your home safer, and while it works well for someone living in a house they own and can renovate, for younger age groups living in apartment complexes it does little more than give useless information. For instance, step 4 explains the type of lock that one should have installed into their door. For me, I live in an apartment and am unable to change the lock on my door. What the complex puts in is what I am stuck with until the end of my lease. As for step 3, outside lighting, there is also little I can do about it. They have street lights in random places around my complex, but very little lighting outside of my front door and plenty of bushes for intruders to hide in. Safety rules need to apply for everyone and include personal options of what to do if something happens rather than just precautionary acts.

This link is very true. I've read the book "He's Just Not That Into You" and while it goes into much more detail, this site has a lot of the same information. Chicks need to learn to not make excuses for guys and move onto one who doesn't need you to make up scenarios for him.

Ineffective:
Ineffective: http://www.ehow.com/how_5331241_figure-out-dog-cat-scooting.html The steps listed in this article are more like tips and do not follow a step by step process.
Effective: http://www.ehow.com/how_5338618_calculate-base-percentage-average-baseba... The steps in this article are short and easy to follow.
Effective/Ineffective Instructions
1. Effective Instructions: http://www.ehow.com/how_5322378_clean-dirt-out-keyboard.html
These instructions tell how to clean the dirt out of your keyboard. These instructions were effective because they start off with a list of things that the user will need. Then the instructions are listed in numbered steps. Some of the steps have a picture that is helpful if someone does not know how to hold the computer when they are cleaning it. The instructions also use imperatives in every step.
2. Ineffective Instructions: http://www.ehow.com/how_5331449_hitch-up-boat-trailer-easily.html
These instructions were ineffective because although they were written in steps, they read more like a narrative. The "instructions" also do not provide any real instruction on how to do the task, especially if someone has never attempted this task before.
E-How Good and Bad
Poor Instructions = How to get your cat to shake on command.
The steps are too long and complicated. Could be broken down. Does not use command words. The content seems good but it takes to much effort to sort through the information.
Good Instructions = How to clean a dirty saltwater aquarium
Instructions are clear and well organixed. Begins with a command then follows with specific details on how to accomplish the tasks.
Ineffective vs. Effective
How to Make Pizza Dough Easily (Effective)

How to Parallel Park Quickly (Ineffective)

How to Stop A Sinking SUV (Ineffective)
http://www.ehow.com/how_5330936_stop-sinking-suv.html
Instructions
I think these instructions are very clear and easy. They are very effective. Not too many directions but just enough to be clear and concise.
http://www.ehow.com/how_5331597_rent-new-movies-family-fun.html
I think this one is ineffective because it does not give the where you can purchase the software at. It does not tell you how to set up the software or any of the devises that will be used. There is not a recommendation for brand, price, ect.

8/26 Activity
The link, http://www.ehow.com/how_4583771_build-linen-storage-cabinet.html, explains how to build a linen storage cabinet. I found these instructions to be very helpful because not only do they tell you how to make the cabinets but they explain to you why you would want to do something. For example they said that you would want to leave about 18 inches inbetween your shelves so you could store sheets and towels together.
The link, http://www.ehow.com/how_8583_make-paper-book.html, explains how to make a paper book cover. I found these instructions to be unhelpful because, they were good in the beginning but then got confusing towards the end. The last thing I would want to do would be to start a project and then half way through it quit because I get too fustrated with the directions.
eHow
The first eHow link is How to levitate yourself, and it is ineffective because it tells the reader that after years of focus and training that "You Too" can levitate (After mental development at almost supernatural levels). What the eHow article should have been centered around was on the second two steps, explaining how to do it without years of focus. The second article was how to celebrate a coworkers birthday which at the last minute would help to alleviate the strain of coming up with a base plan for what to do and gives tips for other creative ideas.

eHow
http://www.ehow.com/how_7314_choose-paintball-gun.html
Effective beacuse it covers just about everything someone can think of when purchasing a paintball gun. It is thurough and that is a must when purchasing several hundered dollars worth of equipment.
http://www.ehow.com/how_5050263_fit-hiking-boots.html
Step 3 does not belong here. Article is about how to fit a boot to your feet. Not boot types for different situations. Step 3 belongs in a different article.
