Draft Design Plan: College Student dinner

Purpose:
My motivation in this situation is to communicate an easy and cheap recipe for college students.
For under $10 you can purchase everything need to make this sausage and rice meal.
I want to help students find an easy and cost efficient way to eat at home, instead of eating fast food everyday. This is a much healthier option and has put my foot in the door for eating more nutritiously.
The worst possible option from this communication is that you audience doesn't like the meal. If that is because of the sausage there are many possible options.

Audience:
This meal is directed at college students who are looking for alternatives to fast food. Cooking the meal is good for college students who don't have very much time to cook at home because it takes no more than 25 minutes to prepare (as long as the sausage isn't frozen). The cost is very efficient with this meal because for less than $10 dollars you can get everything you need for the sausage and rice, and for a side (canned green beans, cream corn, etc.). The meal doesn't need anything more than just water, rice, sausage, and a side to have all the ingredients. There is no need to purchase and extra's like milk or butter. This meal is easy to make in a dorm (as long as there is a common kitchen) or in any residence.

Context:
This text will be presented in a very basic recipe design. It can be used at any time, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The side is the only thing that should be changed to make the meal different for breakfast. I will not be present when my audience uses this recipe, but it would be used in an informal setting and would be easily followed. I have included the specific directions for the entire cooking process.

Strategies:
To make this recipe attractive to college students I will advertise that it is cheap and easy. As well I will point out that my recipe can be cooked in 20 minutes and is very hard to make "wrong".

Medium:
I would provide this recipe to a college for use in a healthy and cheap option for the ever moving college student. There are plenty of brochures that are given to college students in dorms that all include ways to be more nutritional and offer meal options to students. I believe that this recipe would be very easy for students to try.

Arrangement:
I will arrange my recipe in a very simple format. I will begin with the title at the top of the column. Following the title is my very short list of ingredients. (1.5 cups of chopped sausage, 1 cup of rice, 2 cups of water, and a canned side.) Following this list of ingredients I would have the step listed above a small icon that shows the specific set of the cooking instructions. The only hard part about displaying this recipe is that anyone could do a different side, I will show creamed corn from a can. The canned foods are all cooked simply on the stove in a pot. The specific directions should be very simple such as leaving them on low heat for about 10 minutes.

Testing:
I will test my instruction set through using both sausage and squash. I will use the squash to offer a vegetarian alternative. My design being a recipe faces the factors of personal choice, and also inexperience in cooking. Some people do not like sausage, for this I offer squash as a vegetable alternative. However some might try it with a different meat such as hamburger, chicken, steak, or turkey. These all have to be precooked before being put in with the rice.
