Attached is a ppt from a recent presentation we gave at a national conference. It describes the program we run year-round for children. The summer camps were an outgrowth of this. There are some photos included in the ppt. Others are available on the library website.

Here is a justification statement regarding the program:
Literacy Live is a dramatic interpretation program whose objectives are to develop children’s literacy skills and environmental awareness. Using critically reviewed literature focusing on specific environmental themes, children ages 4-7 are encouraged to use their imaginations, personal experiences and creativity to recreate stories. Dramatic interpretation promotes personal interest in reading and creates a learning atmosphere where comprehension is relevant to the students. By helping children to comprehend the environmental message conveyed in the literature, Literacy Live hopes to encourage a sense of stewardship in children.
