These parents caged their 11 special needs adopted children. I don't understand how the system allowed this to go on. The parents even pleaded "not guilty" to several charges. It's also ridiculous to place 11 children in one home. There is no way that they can properly be taken care of by a single set of parents. These children were treated like animals because they have disabilities. I wonder how long the state will allow children to be placed in unfit homes rather than waiting for good parents to apply for adoption. What do you think of this whole situation?

Caged Kids

I thought that the background checks and the adoption process would have weeded out people like this from being able to adopt. Not only should the parents get in trouble for what they have done but also the adoption agencies. First of all letting a faimly adopt that many childern is crazy, it has to be close to impossible to watch 11 kids at once all of whom were under the age of 15. But to also add that some or all o f the children were handicaped, this could have been stopped before any thing bad happened.

Adoptive parents

This case is so outrageous to me. I don't understand how people could do those types of things to children. I thought that background checks were supposed to keep people like this out of the system. No way should have eleven children been placed in one house hold, especially not eleven disabled children. This whole situation is so sad! I think adoption agencies should be held accountable for situations like this. They should do a better job with researching people before they place children in homes.

Background what?

To let one family take responsibility over eleven handicaped children is insane. There is no reason that this should have even happened. Not to mentioned that there backgrounded checks are not 100% true is just wrong on so many levels. Where do you draw the line form loving family to this horrified version of the brady bunch?

seems quite insane to me

To place 11 children, and those too with disabilities, in the care of just 2 people sounds completely insane to me. Especially since they have disabilities, they require extra attention. The state should think this through and enforce a law or something that would stop such a situation from arising again.

11 disabled children in one

11 disabled children in one house with only 2 people to take care of them? That is just crazy no matter how you look at it. At the very least they should have hired someone to help them out or just not adopted that amount of kids.

Reality

This is an unfortunate reality. There are so many children today in the social services system. Social service workers too often place children in unfit homes simply to get them out of the system. They may feel that an unfit home is better than no home at all.

It disgusts me to think that someone would abuse a child because they have special needs or disabilities. These children will not only have to face a life of difficulty because of their disabilities, but they will also have to deal with any psychological and emotional issues brought about by this abuse.
