Project 2: Packaging and Promotion Rubric

Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2006-09-09 18:54.

Project 2 comprises four deliverables: the CD package, the CD package design plan, the promotional material, the promotional material design plan. The 1-2 page reading documents are two-point homework grades, and do not factor into the Project 2 grade. The four deliverables are graded holistically. This means that the components of Project 2 do not lose a set number of points based upon specific errors; they are evaluated upon their overall rhetorical effectiveness. There are 100 total possible points. The breakdown is as follows:

  • CD package (0-40 points)
  • CD package design plan (0-10 points)
  • Promotional material (0-40 points)
  • Promotional material design plan (0-10 points)

CD Package and Promotional Materials:

Excellent CD packages and promotional materials will:

  • achieve a specific purpose by targeting a specific audience
  • have a professional, polished appearance appropriate to a commercial product
  • demonstrate coherence between the design plan and the resulting work
  • display grammar and mechanics appropriate to situation in both material and design plan

Design Plans:

Excellent design plans will:

  • explicate the goals of the CD package or promotional material and how it achieves them
  • demonstrate analysis of audience, context, purpose, strategies, medium, and arrangement
  • be in a concise, professional, polished format appropriate to the audience and situation
  • display grammar and mechanics appropriate to situation
