We will follow the steps below to discuss our data map analyses:

  1. On your own analysis, make certain that the link to the data map that you analyzed is correct. Copy and paste it from your browser and test it. We will use these links in class and they must work.
  2. Print one copy of your analysis and give it to me.
  3. Remove your personal information from your computer file so that it is anonymous. Print a second copy of the file. The anonymous version will go in a stack at the front of the room.
  4. Students will select one of the anonymous analyses from the stack other than their own.
  5. Students will pull up the data map link in the analysis. Each student will examine the analysis with regard to the data map that is its subject and respond to these issues:
    • What claims in the analysis are strong? Specifically what evidence is cited to make them strong?
    • What claims in the analysis are contestable? How might you contest them?
  6. We will take class time to respond to these prompts in writing. Afterward, we will discuss our findings, so be prepared to speak intelligently about them.
