Disturbed - Believe

Believe is Disturbed’s second album out of 3. It was released on September 17, 2002 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts selling 284,000 copies in its first week.
This album has a very central theme around religion including the songs “Believe”, “Prayer”, “Awaken”, “Forsaken”… Many of the songs talk about religion and its effect on people (good or bad). The album cover is a collage of many different religious symbols including Paganism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. On the cover of the album you can see a Star of David, a Pentagram, a Crescent Moon, and a Cross as well as devil horns. This helps enforce the idea of satanic religions, or the fact that the way that some people deal with their own religion is against the churches thinking and turns the individual into a hypocritical sinner.
One of the songs from the album, “Prayer” is a conversation between the singer and God after his grandfather died. He goes on to talk about how he’s mad at God for taking his grandfather away from him. He uses this song to illustrate how people blame God for all the problems that happen in their life. Many other songs have a similar theme to them.

I really enjoy Disturbed!
They are very deep with their lyrics.

And their music video conveys the way their is destruction all around us and people just seem to get worst through time.

So much hardships can lead some people to give up or twist words for their own battles (bible versus).
The lyrics I felt that comes to our lips when our hope for something greater feels abandon:
"living just isn't hot enough
Burn me alive, inside
Living my life's not hard enough,
They take everything from you"
Life is hard(sometimes it feels like hell) and when we get happiness taken away by being or physical item(s), we feel crushed from within and abandon.

Their lyrics contain messages that usually follow a darker theme and this album doesn't seem to stray from that too much. Here the theme is religion and this is reflected in their lyrics as well as the album cover. What I really like about this particular design is how each different religions' symbols share equal emphasis in that each one is intertwined with the other. It really speaks to me about how their lyrics don't focus on a single religion other than the idea of a presence (or lack thereof) of a single deity.
Oh on the subject of Disturbed here is something that I think you will enjoy.

In this case the CD design directly reflects the theme of the album. I like how glmaster (above) pointed out that each religious symbol is equal in arrangement. With religion having always been a touchy subject I thought this was done a tasteful manner. The lyrics though may upset some religious people, but singing about religious opinions and pleasing everyone does not ever happen.
I thought the font was a good choice: it's a little gothic a little metal. I thought this went well with the genre and the design accompanying it. I thought the title was a good choice because just like the song titles, it was one word. The color choice (red background, silver metallic religious symbols) makes the CD look a little evil. I understand the genre matches it though.
