“The Simpsons Movie” Soundtrack = The Most Amazing CD Packaging Ever

So I'm doin just about everything I can to find something about CD packaging and come across the Simpsons Movie Soundtrack on google!!! Without even knowing the quality of the music or who is even going to be on this album, I would probably be tempted to purchase it due simply to its intriguing packaging!! I mean look at the thing...it has a box of donuts for the outside casing with a sprinkle donut on the inside that holds a CD inside!!!

First off the subject/genre of the album itself targets a niche audience (fans of the simpson and cartoon watchers). I honestly don't see someone who is walkin through a record store picking up a random soundtrack unless they are interested in that film specifically. honestly who's gonna pickup a movie soundtrack outta curiosity?? Yet by taking the packaging a step further they have created something that stands out and makes consumers take a second look and give the idea of purchasing it a second thought....even if most people who see it don't buy it, I'm pretty sure that most would pick it up and look it over (both design and tracklist) before setting it back down.

Overall while not that practical...this is probably some of the best CD packaging i've ever seen and I'd definitely give it a second look if going through a record store!

haha

thats awesome. Leave it to the simpson's to have a ridiculous soundtrack package like that. I love how Hans Zimmer has made soundtracks for gladiator, last samurai, and batman begins but on the simpsons cover it says Baked by hans zimmer. That might hurt his epic battle image. I wonder how much it costs? It seems like with such a huge package they would include more than just the cd. It seems like it has to be a special edition or something. they must have a regular cd for sale or else they would lose so much money it seems. Great package though.

Mmm, doughnut

This fits perfectly with the Simpson's audience. Anyone who knows much about pop culture, or American culture, knows the Simpsons, and the iconic Homer along with the doughnut is a perfect catch. Opening it up to reveal an actual doughnut model is genius though, and the fact that it holds the CD is icing on the...well, the doughnut. I suspect Simpsons fans will hold this as a collector's item must-have, but for other people the whole package's appeal will be a factor in its purchase. Though I have not seen the movie, I am half-tempted to buy this CD myself. Granted, since it is apparently a limited edition product, it is not as impressive as making every CD held by this type of packaging. However, I can already tell a sizable amount of money went into developing this, and mass marketing it would be risky. Overall, this is a must-have for fans and a winner for non-fans as well.

This is indeed a very eye

This is indeed a very eye catching package. Perfectly targets the fans of “The Simpsons”. Myself being a Simpsons fan, I expect strange and unusual things when it comes to the packaging of Simpsons items. This package reminds me of the season packages that where shaped as various character heads. These were special editions and there were regular packages released for the same seasons as well. My guess is that this is a special edition package too and that there is a more regular package too, although I was unable to find it online so I’m not for sure.

Target Audience Indeed

Definitely the most specific album we've reviewed so far that targets a direct audience. Even the whole "baked by Hans Zimmer" label works around the context of the packaging. It's particularly interesting how they went about constructing the doughnut motif, and makes me wonder if they contemplated it from the shape of a cd, or tried to figure out how they could work a doughnut into one. Outer packaging is consistent in color tone, even down to the detail of the box. The casing seems rather simplistic at first glance, but I find it rather brilliant as they work around the physical formats of the CD itself.

While the drawback is that it implies audience with the Homer fans for the most part, I can't think of any of my Simpson fanatic friends that would object to it.

Okay, Okay. That. Is. Awesome.

I have yet to see a package such as that. I wonder though, how it was distributed and who it was distributed to. I know its a limited audience, but I think it would be interesting to see the audience that received it since we will be talking about our promotional materials. My brother recently got the Harry Potter DVD collection and its packaging was pretty interesting also. It came in a suitcase container and each DVD came in a case that looked like school books from the movie. I think packaging such us as this makes the event of buying the product a little more enjoyable. So it iself is a promotional material, but I wonder who their audience was.

simpsons

This was a very good album cover because it took what the show puts out but polished it up so that it could catch the eye of anyone. If someone were to go down the isle of a store i would guess that if someone just saw the dough nut that people would think the Simpson's. The idea of an icon/ symbol is that people can identify with the icon and know what its for without a hint of writing.

I'd say that's pretty much

I'd say that's pretty much the best album packaging ever. It fits the Simpsons so perfectly. Why not take advantage of having an album to do something creative? I don't know how easy it is to store those to sell in stores though..

I love the simpsons

Oh man this is so interesting. The package makes me want to buy it because of its uniqueness. The great thing about this is that their packaging really sells to their audience and people who enjoy to collect items.
