T-shirt

I chose to do my blog on the T-shirt design of the band third day. This is a christian band and its T shirt design shows a picture of the band standing in a peaceful field. The band is probably portrayed in a peaceful field in order to give the impression that their music is peaceful and soothing for the soul, which would be a good theme because they are a softer christian rock type band. The peacefulness that their music brings across could also be meant to show that God brings peace to people. The name of the band is printed in large block letters with swirling emblems below and above it. The name takes up about 1/4th of the front shirt space as the picture of the band itself. This is probably done so that the name is very prominent, and this shirt could have been created so that people know the name of the band and can place their name with their faces in order to allow people to look up band name in the future. This relates to our CD project in that placing a CD name or band name in large letters on the front of the T-shirt allows people to see who the band is exactly so that they can look it up later. Also placing a picture of the band or something that represents the music also generates interest in the shirt which then causes people to look at the name and then possibly look up the band or album name.
The setting and coloring of the t-shirt's image is very communicative of a softer style of music. Obviously, the title is a biblical reference, though I wonder how clear it is to those of other beliefs. Due to the coloring of the image, being shades of brown, it seems there is less emphasis on tranquility and more on solidarity, with the band standing together on the field. If they are standing on a hill, it could be trying to convey the image of them rising up, with more biblical connotations. I do not approve of the t-shirt fill being a green/grey color, I think a brown base would have complemented the picture as long as the picture was a more golden brown. Overall, the t-shirt works, clearly conveying either a country or christian influence.

In a crowd of people, the shirt wouldn't make me look twice or think about it much. The artwork is nice, but the idea has been beaten into the ground by so many bands. South Park made a mention of band cover albums (I know it's not exactly the same, but still relevant) all being about the band standing in random spots looking wherever and not smiling. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/51/709_Christian_Rock_Hard---...

I have a problem with artist's pictures on tee shirts. Side note. Anyway I think I just have a problem with this picture. I have seen the whole "we are a band in an open field" picture too many times. It's too cliche to put on a tee shirt I believe. For some reason I think the band picture on a tee shirt is a pop music thing, from my experience. I have not worn a lot of music shirts though, so this is a rather personal view. I think if you are going to put a photograph on, though, it should be original.
I do agree the name is obviously needed. Was there a back to the teeshirt?
