  1. Provide a few sentences of introduction about yourself. Who are you? What are your interests?
  2. Provide a few sentences about your expectations for this class. Is it so far what you expected it to be? What do you expect to get out of it? What caused you to enroll in this class rather than say a business writing class?
  3. Since I'm asking about you, ask one question of me.

introduction about myself

My name is Jon Kasperan. I am a Senior in the College of Technology. My major is Computer Graphics Technology with an emphasis on animation. I am from Valparaiso, Indiana. Some of my interests are Animation, Gaming, and Japanese. I have been to Japan twice and china once. Japan is my favorite place to go on vacation. I only have one expectation of this class and that is to get a passing grade. I have one question. How hard is this class?

Hello. I'm Sarah. I'm a sophomore in CGT, minoring in A&D. My interests include Music, tennis, racquetball, being outside, and hanging out with friends. I'm a member of Alpha Phi Omega which is a co-ed service fraternity. It's a really fun organization and it keeps me busy a lot.

I don't have any particular expectations for this class, but so far it seems alright. Hopefully the class will help improve my writing skills and whatnot. I enrolled in this class because it was for Multimedia Writing. After I graduate I would like to possibly go to grad school for Multimedia Design.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Response to Personal Introductions

My name is Matt Draper and I am from northern Kentucky studying Neurobiology and Physiology. I am a senior and plan to get a research job followed by an MBA after a few years of work. I am interested in music, particularly guitar, running, soccer, and just hanging out with my friends.

This class is so far exactly what I expected, and I hope to learn how to communicate to others in a business setting. To be honest, I enrolled in this class because it was the only English class that was available and I need it in order to graduate. Also I dropped a business writing class after a couple days because it seemed incredibly boring.

My question to you is what is your favorite activity outside of work?

Personal Introduction

My name is Bobby. I'm a (super) senior in OLS, and I'm finally graduating in May. I'm from New York City. I love working on cars, and I have been racing since I was a kid. I like going out to the bars and meeting new people. I am trying to get a job upon graduation with either Audi or the New York Rangers. Either one will be interesting...

I expect this class to be a fun learning experience about multimedia. Not sure what to expect exactly, but it seems like it should be interesting. This course fulfills my english selective.

What type of car do you drive?

Personal Introduction

Hi, my name is Haoqian Wen, but most people call me "Pan" due to the fact that Haoqian is nearly impossible to pronounce. I'm currently a junior who has freshly CODO'd into CGT with a concentration in multimedia and animation, and an A&D minor. I hope to get into either the gaming or special effects industry after graduation.

I took this class as an English selective, and I'm hoping to learn more about CSS, web development, and aesthetically appealing presentation of content. So far, this class is pretty much what I've expected.

Hope to hear from everyone.

My question for Prof. Tirrell:
Aside from teaching, in what specific technical fields and industries do you have experience in?

This is me

1. My name is Zach McNulty. I'm a junior in CGT. I enjoy doing video work. One of my interests is music. I've been playing guitar since 7th grade. I now play guitar in a couple different bands and lead worship at Purdue Christian Campus House. So far, I'm looking forward to this course. To be honest, I didn't really know what to expect from the class, but I like the sound of it. I enrolled in this class because it will be helpful if I continue to do web design. What are some examples of professional work have you done?

About me

My name is Amy Lankey and I am a junior in the Physics department. I am majoring in Physics but hope to go into Astronomy/Astrophysics. I work with a professor in the Physics department studying black holes and updating his website as well as at the Telefund calling alumni for donations to Purdue. I had an internship with NASA over the summer and would like to work there when I get out of college.
I enjoy learning about computers and the internet, but have not always been the best at working with them. By taking this class I hope to gain a better understanding and use of both. Thus far, the class seems to be more than expected - I am excited for the readings and interesting projects during the semester. I hope that we are able to do work with a non-profit organization because I believe this type of work to be very fulfilling. I took this class as opposed to other writing courses because I feel it is the most interesting in what I will learn and be able to use outside of the course.
I am curious as to where you went to college as well as what you like to do during your time off.

I'm studying Computer

My name is Wei-Chia Sun. I'm studying Computer Science in Purdue as an international student and I'm from Taiwan. I like to play tennis when I have free time.

I'm expecting to improve my writing skill in this class. I'm enrolling in this class because my adviser recommended me to take it...she said this class would be slightly easier than usual business writing classes?

Question for you: are you a CS major?

about me

My name is Dan Mihalik. I am a super senior double majoring in Mass Communication and Health and Fitness. I work for the Purdue Sports Information Department, compiling statistics, writing student-athlete bios and other things along those lines. I am a huge sports fan and ideally would like to find a job somewhere in the sports field, whether it's in communications, journalism or any other media relations type positions.

I hope to be more well-rounded in different forms of communications. Since the journalism field is evolving into more of an online realm, being able to utilize technology to enhance myself and my resume can help my chances of getting a job I want.

Simply, what are your qualifications? Where did you go to school, etc.

Hey

Hey there! I'm a sophomore here, at Purdue University. I'm a practicing Christian and attend a local church in W. Lafayette. I like to play video games, but do balance what are important as to what is just for fun.

This course was suggested by my adviser and I didn't see any reason not to take it. If anything this class will help me be more informed of today's communication in the business world, more specifically the digital realm. To further my communicational skills is the main drive for me to be in this course.

How long have you been an instructor here at Purdue?

Hello from Ashley Watson

Hello, my name is Ashley Watson, but people usually call me by my last name. I am a senior in professional writing and classical studies. I like history a little too much. I'm also huge on pop culture, and I watch a lot of television, and I'm okay with that. (i.e. House, X-files and The Office) I'm currently applying to graduate school, so that is basically controlling my life at the moment.

I entered the class with no expectations. I have had friends take this class with multiple instructors so all their projects were different. I expected that there would be technology that I would not know, but I'm willing to learn and pretty excited about it. I enrolled in this class instead of business writing because I'm a business writing consultant at the writing lab and I thought it would be too much business writing for one semester. Also, since I feel comfortable with business writing, I wanted to do something different.

What is your favorite tv show?

I am a senior in computer

I am a senior in computer science. I am a Christian and want to see the message of Christ's love spread throughout campus and the world in general. Hopefully, I'll be able to move to Germany sometime after graduation and live there for a few years.
I hope to learn general principles of information on the web. I hope to develop some kind of work ethic, as I traditionally do poorly in English classes because I don't like to do the work. I'm glad now that I'm in this class than a standard business writing class, but I'm only in it because the other writing classes were full.

My Intro

1. Hey there, I'm Andy Muehlhausen. I'm actually a sophomore looking to get out of my Physics major and into, say, Computer Science (?). That is, unless I end up taking a larger interest in something else... I just finished a semester studying abroad in New Zealand and had the best five months of my life doing so. My greatest interest is music... not the listening part, but the playing and recording part. I run a pseudo recording studio in the top of a garage in Logansport, Indiana. Nothing serious, just recording lots of local bands.

2. I expect this class to consume a bit of my time, but to bring with it some good digital workplace experience. (And a good grade???) The reason I ended up in this class is because my adviser just stuck me in here. And so far, I see no reason to take myself out.

3. How does it feel leaving Texas to end up in some crappy Indiana winters? Obviously, not the 60 degree winter it is right now, but the USUAL Indiana crappy winters?

Personal Information

I am Albert. I am majoring in Computer Science. I am interested in computer graphic.
Specifically, I am interested in human interaction with computer and vice versa.
I expect to be able to have some idea about writing professionally in multimedia.
I choose to enroll in this particular class because I believe it is closely related to my interest in computer.
I hope I can apply what I learn here to the subject that I am interested in.

personal intro

I am Gabriel Masters-Jackson, Gabe for short. Some of my interests include computers (any and everything about them), working on cars, and the outdoors. I am a senior in Computer Graphics Technology.

My expectations for this class are to sharpen my writing skills as it pertains to multimedia as that is what I am most interested in pursuing a career in (Interactive Multimedia). I chose this class over my other choices because I do not enjoy writing that much so I figured that I would be somewhat interested in a multimedia-oriented writing class.

What did you do before you started teaching?

Personal Introductions

My name is Erol Erturk, I am from Rochester New York and am a sophomore physics major. I am interested in designing websites but have very little experience doing it. In the future I am hoping to get involved in the music industry in some way and a knowledge of creative advertising using the web would be very helpful.

From this class I expect to become more comfortable using the internet and everything it has to offer. I enrolled in the class because i needed a professional writing class for my major and i have not had any formal instruction with this material.

Are there any examples we can see of previous students projects or any of your websites that could be helpful in understanding what we will be doing?

My name is Brad Fawaz and

My name is Brad Fawaz and I'm a professional writing major and Junior here at Purdue. I enjoy tennis and writing as hobbies and computer troubleshooting as a pseudo-hobby/job, and am a volunteer forum moderator for the Insomniac Games corporation.

I am currently dual-enrolled in business writing and am looking forward to utilizing some of the more technologically inclined aspects this class has to offer. I hope to have a sounder understanding of web-based writing implementations in both the technical and visual sense by the end of the course, which I believe seems to be the case thus far.

I'm actually still a little curious as to how focused the graphically inclined/visual portions of this course will be, and if it will require any independent creation of visuals for integration into projects.

Personal Introduction

My name is Lisa Daugird, and I'm from Grayslake, IL. I'm a senior majoring in Professional (Technical) Writing with a minor in OLS. I love dancing, and I used to be a Golduster dancer at Purdue. I also like writing, and I am working in the Writing Lab this semester. I have taken Engl 421, Technical Writing, and I assume that this class will be similar to that. Last semester I also took Engl 309, computer-aided publishing, which I would also expect to be similar to this class. I expect to get a better understanding of digital technology from this class, and hopefully I am able to apply what I already know from my other courses to this class's projects and homework. I decided to enroll in this class because I like working with computers and I see myself using many different types of technolgy once I graduate. The concepts that this class goes over will be helpful if I get into the field of technical writing.

One question for Mr. Tirrell- What is your undergraduate degree in?

Intro of Bernadette Medina

My name is Bernadette Medina, I am a senior in Biology Education. “My family is my life” and I try my hardest to keep it that way. I am the first out of all the Medina’s to go to college, and I am proud to carry this first "torch of success" for my family’s name. A huge portion of my family lives in Mexico and the rest in either Chicago or Texas. I have a great passion for animals but unfortunately I do not have the will power to be a vegetarian….it is not my fault they taste so good. I love belly dancing, watching movies, playing Smash brothers, watching anime, and just enjoying the out doors.

I want to be able to interact with multimedia better. I would love to be better at understanding computers in general and be able to be creative. The description is what caught my eye.

What do you do for fun?

1. My name is Adam Culp and

1. My name is Adam Culp and I am a graduating senior in Computer Graphics Technology. I was born and raised in Logansport, Indiana. After graduation I hope to get a job near Kokomo, Indiana to be with my soon to be wife (July 27). I am looking for a job that has something to do with web development and/or advertisement. In my spare time I like to play video games or just mess around with pictures on the computer.

2. So far this class seems to be what I expected, not too much to go by since I have only been in class one day due to rescheduling. I’m hoping this class will help with any skills I need with multimedia since that is my future occupational goal. I enrolled in this class cause it was one of three choices for my degree and I wasn’t about to sit through a business writing class.

3. My question would be: What made you decide to teach at Purdue compared to any other college.

Hey, my name is Andy Bohn.

Hey, my name is Andy Bohn. I'm double majoring in Physics and Mathematics. I am currently in a CS internship with Delphi, and doing physics research with Professor Koltick. I like drumming, running, playing guitar hero, playing computer games, and watching movies/tv shows.

I expect this class to help me express my ideas through different media platforms. I've done some photo and video editing before, created websites, and, as I'm sure as everyone else has, created too many power point presentations. The class is about what I expected thus far (the one class I've attended). I enjoy using technology to get my ideas across which is why I chose this class versus a different business class.

My question for you is this:
What is your technological background?

Me, Myself, and I

My name is Russell Martin, and I am an EAS major studying geology. I come from Walton, which is a small town between Logansport and Kokomo, about 45 minutes east of here. I expect to learn a lot about how to manipulate data into more user-friendly formats, mainly visual ones. As part of the new modules added to my degree requirements, I needed a technical writing course and this fits the bill perfectly.
My one question to you is, why do you prefer Mac OS computers?
