Personal Introduction
My name is Andrew Mitchell and I'm attending UNCW in a 2+2 program with NC State for Civil Engineering. I am greatly involved in music and church while also enjoying hunting and the outdoors. When finished with this class, I expect to be more informed on the way my professional documentation should be represented. One of the biggest reasons for me taking this class is it fits my elective requirements. The big question I have about the course is about what I will be learning from the course.
Jamie Revill
1. My name is Jamie Revill, and I am a sophomore from Wake Forest, NC. I have been playing the ukulele for a while now and I have been singing for as long as I can remember. As for weird things to remember me by, my first job was as a clown and I've had a Big Mac in over 6 countries.
2. In this class, I hope to learn about what professional writing actually entails. Having a strict structure in my writing is not something I'm used to, and I hope to gain the ability to tailor my words to the task I am writing for. I signed up for the class because I needed it for my major requirements.
3. What will be the most difficult part of this class for someone who has never really done a piece of professional writing before?
Intro
My name is Joseph Zumpol but I go by Joey. I am in the 2+2 engineering program at NC State. I enjoy playing sports and video games. I have a black belt in karate which took 7 years to earn.
In this class, I want to learn more about how professional documentation should be represented. Also, I signed up for the class because I needed it for my major requirements.
My biggest question is: What is the hardest part for someone who never done this kind of writing before?
Personal Introduction
1. My name is Morgan Cartier, I am a sophomore and an English major. I played softball most of my life. I chose not to play in college because it is too time consuming, but I hope to coach in the future.
2. I am not sure what to expect from this class but I hope that it helps me decide whether I would like my English concentration to be education or professional writing.
3. I am curious as to what this class will entail and what it will require from me as a student, as I have never taken a professional writing course.
INTROOOO!!!!
My name is Donald Sonnett. Most people just call me by my middle name Justin though. I am a sophomore here at UNCW enrolled in the 2+2 Mechanical engineering program with NC State ( probably going to be more like 3+2 though cause I suck at math and I dont want to leave the beach). I love to surf and sail and am the vice president of the UNCW Sailing club. Besides surfing I love anything outdoors from fishing, skateboarding, flying planes, camping, snowboarding, skiing, scuba diving, catching air, lighting things on fire... One of my favorite hobbies is definitely tinkering around in the garage and building lots of crazy stuff. I love working on bikes, cars, jetskis... anything that goes fast. This class is a requirement for my engineering major. I hope to learn how to write more efficiently and effectively. Are we going to have a lot of homework?
introduction
I'm Jaime. I love to read, I work about 5 hours away from a full time job, I'm a sophomore from Charlotte. My favorite author is Chuck Palahniuk and if you asked me to name my favorite band I'd probably just hand you my iPod.
I enrolled in this class because it's required for my major. I'm not a big fan of writing in any form, I'd much rather prefer to read.
I am not very good when it comes to using technology, will using computer software and technology be a huge part of the course?
Introductions
Hola, My name is Marguerite I am a sophomore and I am majoring in professional writing. What motivated me to take this class was personal interest combined with the requirements for the writing major. I like writing poems, and writing ocasional song lyrics for my boyfriend's music. I play guitar ritually and I work part time as a pharmacy tech. My question would be, how to make this class work for my best advantage for my professional writing future?
Personal Introduction
My name is Kevin Kehm and I'm at UNCW taking part in the 2+2 Engineering program for Mechanical Engineering with NC State. I was born and raised in Germany and lived their for 6 years before moving to the States. My main interests involve sports in the mountains, rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, etc, but since I live at the beach I do also surf.
I signed up for the course because it is required. I am hoping to learn a few things though.
My question is, should I have known who the guy is that is your profile picture?
Personal Introductions
My name is Tyler Heffernan and I'm planning on majoring in English. I have lived in Wilmington almost my entire life. I enjoy playing basketball and hanging out with my friends.
This course is required for English majors, so that was my real motivation to take Intro to Professional Writing. I am interested in becoming a journalist so I hope the tools I learn in this class will help me particularly in that aspect.
How much homework can I expect from this class?
Introduction
1. Hi there :-) My name is Jessie Buongiorno. Some random facts about me... I placed second in "Dub Idol" last year...i went to spain, france, and morocco my senior year and loved it...and i will eat almost anything except peanut butter.
2. I hope to gain a better understanding of what professional writing really entails. I am not exactaly sure what we will be doing in this class...so i am excited to get started.
3. What made you (Dr. Tirrell) want to get involved with professional writing? (or just english in general).
Hey my name is Lauren
Hey my name is Lauren Gibbons. I am majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. I am currently a junior. I plan on studying abroad this summer in Chile for 5 weeks which I am very excited about. I'm a girl that loves playing video games, Call of Duty is my poison. I'm also a dog fanatic, I have a boxer "Baylen" who is the worst dog I have ever encountered but I love her. In this class I expect to further my experience with prof writing and get one step closer to graduating. My main question would be about the details of our upcoming projects.
Personal introduction
1. My name is Samuel Coulon, I am a junior and my major is Finance. I am from Paris (France), this is my first year at UNCW because I am an exchange student (tabsa). One thing to remember me: I love sailing.
2. I enrolled in this class because it is required for my degree but I think it will be about how to communicate in a corporation. I already have some experience due to the fact that I made a 7 months internship last year. However I am totally enthusiast to learn more.
3. My question for Dr Tirrell would be: what is the biggest mistake you are aware of someone when interacting with his colleagues or boss ?
kelly's intro
1. Hey everybody, I'm Kelly and I am a sophomore from Alexandria, VA. I'm on the cross country and track teams here at UNCW so obviously I enjoy running. I also like to cook and ride my bike vigorously.
2. In this class i hope to hone my writing skills into a more professional style. I chose this class because I think that writing is a very valuable skill that I can use throughout my life.
3. Will we be using technology a lot in this class?
My intro
My name is Jessica Seaman and I am a sophomore. I am double majoring in Communication Studies and History with a minor in journalism. I write for The Seahawk, and have played club softball until this semester. I like to travel and have been to 6 countries. I want to be a foreign correspondent. I enrolled in this class because I need it for my minor. My question would be about the projects we will be doing.
introduccion
My name is Cara Stefanacci and i'm a freshman here at UNCW. I really enjoy writing and i'm thinking that I would like to do some sort of writing as my future profession, but i'm not exactly sure what that will be yet. I'm from New Jersey and I get made fun of / asked if i'm a guido every day because of MTV's new show The Jersey Shore. (that's not where it's like where i'm from)
I hope that this class will help me to better my writing and writing structure as well as instruct me how to write for certain situations. My advisor suggested that I enroll in this class for my intended major.
My questions for this course would be about what it actually entails and if it's going to be challenging.
Introducing: William Noell
My name is William Noell. I enjoy reading and writing. Actually, I enjoy reading, writing is, for the most part, exasperating. Still, I write because I value words and language; I like to see and hear a well-crafted turn of phrase or prose that may be mistaken for poetry.
I have very few expectations for this class. I expect to learn some things I don't know. That shouldn't be too difficult; I know basically nothing about professional writing. I was motivated to enroll in this class because it is a requirement for the PWO.
With an instructor so focused on the intersection of learning and technology in the digital age, why the hard copy text book?
My Introduction
My name is Ashley Jarrell and I'm a second year student here at UNCW. I am from a really small town between Pittsburgh and Erie, Pennsylvania. I love to play volleyball (I was on UNCW's club team for a semester) and I like to listen to music and spend time with my family and our three cats. I am double majoring in criminology and Spanish. I went to Spain for two weeks during my senior year of high school and I will be spending next semester and possibly the following semester in Quito, Ecuador.
I enrolled in this class because of the opportunity to obtain a professional writing certificate. I've always enjoyed writing, so hopefully this class will be really enjoyable for me and will help me improve my skills.
My question: will we be using Blackboard at all since you have this website for us? I hope not because Blackboard is a huge pain.
The name is Redd, William Redd.
Well, as posted in the subject line above, I'm William Redd. I am a writer and filmmaker here in town. Also, I am part of a paranormal investigations team based locally.
To be honest, I'm not sure what I expect out of this class or what I intend to get out of it. My motivation for enrolling was the course title. I found it quite interesting and wanted to see what it was all about.
I only have one question, what motivated you to choose Dean Venture (it's an excellent choice, by the way) as your avatar?
William
Hello everyone!
Hello - my name is Sasha Johnson and I am a sophomore. I moved here to go to school from Asheville, NC. Before that I lived in St. Augustine, Fl, Anaheim, Ca, and I was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. My guilty pleasure is superstore shopping. I like to read, I like the outdoors, and I have a cat named Dr. Fuzzington.
I enrolled in this class because it was required for my major (English - Professional Writing). Admittedly this is the only reason. This is a type of writing that I have never approached before, so it will definitely challenge me and I am excited about that. I hope that the class is engaging and gives me some valuable professional writing practice.
Question: Who decides the course content? This was definitely not what I was expecting by "professional writing," and I was curious to know who designs the course and decides what angle to take in the subject matter.
Intro
My name is Gregory Tyler Loftis, and I'm a hardcore bro. I do a lot of stuff, video editing, music production, and journalism. I want to be a professional journalist when I grow up, so I hope to get a lot out of this class.
My question is: what sort of video game research did you do?
