Patriots Today—Draft Preview: Wide Receivers
http://www.patriots.com/mediacenter/index.cfm?ac=podcastdetail&pid=42325... (Episode)
The Patriots Today vodcast is a show about the New England Patriots football team. There is typically one episode per day (Monday-Friday), but if there is big news they will produce multiple episodes a day. During the regular season the show previews games and provides wrap ups afterwards, but during the offseason the host, Brian Lowe does interviews with people about the future of the Patriots. They discuss drafts, practices, workouts, etc.
The episode that I want to discuss is about the wide receivers draft preview. First, Lowe discusses the current Patriot wide receivers and then he goes over the potential draft picks. Then, there is a brief video montage/highlight reel that plays for each player as the host discusses their accomplishments. At the end Lowe interviews Andy Hart who discusses who he thinks is mostly likely to be drafted by the Patriots.
The setup of the whole 5-minute show is easy to follow—discuss current WRs, potential WRs, and then interview expert. Sometimes they have much longer episodes, depending on the amount of things they talk about—like when they were in the playoffs. But, regardless of time I like watching this vodcast because there is usually an interview with a coach, player or an expert about the Patriots. It provides a lot of information about my favorite team and is much quicker than watching ESPN. I think this could be a podcast, but the addition of video highlights of the players makes it more informative and shows how talented the players are.
Because the Patriots are my favorite team, I don’t mind that this vodcast is very bias towards them. Do you prefer vodcasts/podcasts that try to unbiased/journalist or those that take a definite side?
Patriots Vodcast
I liked this vodcast because it was brief, informative, and its a lot better than watching ESPN. I don't mind that podcasts can be biased towards the topic they are discussing. In the podcast I posted, they are doing the same thing. They are talking about it because it is their favorite show, and it is also mine, so that's why I listened to it. I think its ok to be biased because there will always be an audience for it either way.
Patriots Vodcast
Although I fail to be a Patriots fan, I thought the vodcast was informative and necessary to discuss stats and current positions, etc. I do agree that it seems quite biased, however, this is great for fans to follow in order to have sufficient arguments and knowledge about New England. Although I don't prefer biased journalism, I think it is okay for this type of information and vodcast.

In most cases, I think offering your opinion in a podcast/vodcast is ok. However, it is best to an objective view of the situation first, so the audience can at least have a clear idea of what you are talking about before the audience knows your personal opinion. It is hard, if not impossible, to be completely unbiased in journalism, but it is good to make the effort.
