Episode 22: Element Team Demo - Wilmington, NC

Upon searching for a topic that would be fitting for the assignment and enticing for myself, as well as viewers, I came across skateboarding pod and vodcasts and was sold on that idea. I chose this series of vodcasts by Element Skateboarding, not only because it would be an awesome topic to film, but because it would strike viewers interests more than other droning vodcasts that are usually entirely too long. A team of professional skateboarders, affiliated with Element Skateboarding, travel, doing tours and making various demos of skaters around the world. I happened to come across a demo that was filmed here in Wilmington, and found that it would be an appropriate example.

I thought it would be interesting to film something that could potentially promote someone else in either a career or hobby. The main page is easy to navigate and search for specific venues and locations. The episodes are fairly random in filming styles and structure, and they are found in no particular order. Some of the episodes have interviews and commentary throughout, while others simply have an intro, followed by music to accommodate the skateboarding tricks being filmed. One reoccuring theme within the vodcasts is that many of them have an introduction that shows clouds moving extremely fast. This takes an insane amount of time to film, and then edit accordingly. I plan on getting as much film as possible, and then using Final Cut Pro to edit the takes to include effects and visuals that create a professional feel. Although the vodcast I produce will not compare to Element Skateboarding's access to professionals and equipment, I plan on using techniques and styles similar to their episodes.

What should I incorporate in my vodcast that would enable an exceptional product? Do you have any music selection ideas?

This is another skateboarding podcast. It looks like the Red Bull people travel around to different skateboard parks and places too. It's similar to the one you did.

I like the "Cas Pads" Podcast on this page because unlike most of the other Podcasts, they actually talk to the skateboarder and learn the importance of his pads. This one is more than just video highlights as it gives us some insight into the world of skateboarding.
