As I was looking for a comedy review or just a chat about adult swim, fox and other animations or just comedy shows in general. What I found was the swim cast. The podcast caught my attention because the topics presented by the crew. Most shows on adult swim and current news or trends are discussed in a VERY colorful amount of language. The shows intro was a little lengthy with the song but the inclusion of Space Ghosts voice (George Lowe) great to have a nostalgia. The show definitely is only for people who enjoy adult swim shows and have since they started back in the day. The show is also semi live ( I could not really tell because the hosts were very childish at points.) The amount of unprofessional banter that came from them was a bit annoying. They talk about their own personnel lives for a little bit and throw inside jokes around that can detract from the actual show not only that the shows conversational tone is rather annoying and throws the listener off. When they actually get to the topic the show isn't so bad other than that I would not recommend this to any one who is not a die hard adult swim fan. The podcast are also about an hour to 2 hours long and this is way to long for a show about 15 minute episodes.

I am looking to either do a movie, video game review or an episode podcast of an adult swim or probably (Futurama movies that have come out.) I guess my question is if using clips from the actual show or game would enhance the experience and attract you as well as having clean mouthed speakers with a few slips of the colorful tongue or would you rather have a George Carlin styled speaker?

Adult Swim Podcast

I think clips from the game or movie that you are reviewing in your podcast would be helpful. They would be good for an episode of a TV show also, however, you may have some copyright issues if you do that. The style of the speaker depends on whatever you decide to review. If it is something that is more colorful you may want more clean mouthed speakers, but if it is more tame then a George Carlin style speaker may make it more interesting.

Swimcast

If you can get past copyrights, I think that showing clips would be very helpful. For the most part, your podcast will probably end up having a very specific audience and they will already be familiar with what you are reviewing. This may allow you to not use clips if you run into problems. There may be some instances where a clip would be more necessary if you chose to review a video game versus a movie (fuzzy graphics, faulty imaging etc) but as long as you go into detail about your critiques, I think you will do okay. I also feel that the type of speaker is more of a personal choice based on listener. I know that I would prefer a more clean-mouthed speaker. Sometimes what they call "bad language" becomes really unnecessary and distracting, and can take away from the speakers credibility or speaking prowess.

What Not To Do and Do

If you can follow the copyright laws and use clips, do it. I think if the clips are short enough you can get away with it. But you don’t necessarily need to use visual clips of a tv show or video game to make a successful podcast about it. Chances are that most of the people listening to your podcast will be familiar with the game/episode of the show you’re analyzing, so clips are just a bonus in that case.
As far as language, that depends on what audience you have in mind and what you’re reviewing. If you’re reviewing a show that uses explicit language, than listeners of your podcast will have seen that show, and (if they like the show enough to search for a podcast about it) will probably be okay with some dirty words. Just remember that whenever explicit language is involved you’re limiting the potential quantity of your audience.

I think that clips would help

I think that clips would help if you could get away with it. I'm not sure if there would be copyright/legality issues, but if not, I think it would be very beneficial to the overall podcast. Even if you can't use the clips, I feel that your audience will be very familiar with the subject matter at hand and won't necessarily need to see the clips to enjoy the podcast.
