Outdated Law

Bad Laws, Stupid Laws
This podcast looked at law that was outdated, mainly focusing on laws prohibiting gay marriage, but also briefly talking about why casinos are outlawed as well. The people that created the podcast are clearly and openly liberal and don't seem to have much, or anything at all, that they disagree on. They focus on the political aspect of why we have these certain laws. I think that this would have been much more interesting had there been someone on the podcast that offered a different point of view. Another issue that I had with the podcast was the volume. One speaker is much louder than the other so you have to continually adjust the sound. What I was thinking about doing for my podcast is to look at laws that seem to be ridiculous or outdated and question why we still have them. I think the brothel law falls into this category.
Do you think that this podcast is too long? What could make this interesting? Is it possible to make a podcast about law interesting?

That Guy's picture

For some reason I could not load the podcast you linked, I read the blurb and will try to answer your question. Yes, I think a podcast about the law would be interesting. Including stories about crazy laws such as the ones in Wilmington. Examples would be, I think its that more than 3 women living in a home is illegal because its considered a brothel, and oral sex is apparently considered illegal in North Carolina (so don't get caught kids!) Laws like these were passed back in the day and for some reason were never removed. Things like that would be interesting to hear about, and even better if you could find cases or stories involving them.

Laws

This was an interesting podcast, but I did think that the quality of the podcast was a bit low, and I found it difficult to listen to because it sounded a bit blurry and distorted. However, the idea behind the podcast was very interesting. I was intrigued because the two men are talking a lot about Massachusetts and same-sex couples in Rhode Island, which is where I am from so this was very relevant and there are so very strange laws that are still intact.

Podcasts about laws can be interesting, absolutely, it just depends how you talk about it.

Law Podcast

I liked this podcast, obviously the quality of the sound was a mega con and a bit distracting because it took away from the content. I do think that apodcast about law can be interesting. I think it is a great topic idea for a podcast. I completley agree with you that there should be an opposing viewpoint voiced at some point in the podcast. This is a topic where this opposition would be beneficial for the podcast and the discussion in general.
