Students will present their research through a poster, which is a common academic genre that uses visuals and text to communicate findings. The audience is your fellow classmates and instructor (what our readings call “semi-laypeople”: fellow scholars who are not necessarily familiar with your area). Posters, like the associated Research Papers, are rhetorically composed to inform viewers and guide them to a particular point.

Poster dimensions are either 48" x 42", 48" x 36", or 42" x 36"; you must select one of these three sizes. Students commonly use Adobe Express Links to an external site., Microsoft PowerPoint Links to an external site., or Canva Links to an external site. to produce their posters, but no specific software is required. Students will submit their Posters as .pdf files. The Posters will be reviewed in class.
