Ants and hospital patients?

weekly discussions

This article talks about a serious problem in a hospital in Kolkata, India involving ants attacking a patient. I think it is sad that these patients in pain have to go through more and can't do anything about it. It is a short article and I don't have much to say except that hopefully this problem can be solved soon.

Sad

It is sad to hear that is third world countries such as India, that there is a lack of resourses in local hospitals, it is even sadder to hear that there is a lack in concern. One possible explanation is that the doctors and nurses must be used to patients complaining all the time, so they do not really pay much attention to every aching cry. Though a little more attention could save someone's life in the future. Just because there are not proper facilities, does not mean there should be inproper servise. The recovery process should be the stage the patient should recieve a good amount of care to make sure they will have a healthy recovery.

Thank Goodness Conditions Here Are Better

I can see ants and other pests unwantedly inhabiting a hospital. However I think that there is no excuse for cats and dogs to be sharing the same space. I think they could most likely be kept out, and I think that they contribute to the rat and and and problem.
The most disturbing part of this article has to be the lack of help this woman was given when she called out in pain. Yeah, after hearing complanints of pain all day it might be easy for a nurse or doctor to not take them seriously. It is hard to imagine this happening in a united states hospital. I have never had any experiences like this and doctors and nurses have always answered my requests. We need to be thankful we live where we do.

Wow

This article is just shocking and really makes me realley understand how fortunate we are to have good medicine and hospitails in the United States. I belive the best way to solve this problem would be elimintae pets in hospitals. Pets bring much diseases and other insects into a hospital, which may have lead to the ants coming into the hospital. Also making sure the rooms are clean, or close to being clean would eliminate the possibility of futher infection in pacience.

Geez

I didn't realize conditions were so bad over there, I thought India was one of the nations with many good doctors but I guess the overcrowding just shadows it.

brutal

That seems pretty disturbing that people come to a hospital to get treatment then get attacked by ants...I would think that no matter how trashy a place is that their hospital would be up to par. Lets hope that somehow they get some cash to hire an exterminator to de-bug that hospital because hospitals should be a place to get treatment, not to get worse.
