a late week 16 blog

podarcze — Sun, 12/14/2008 - 16:50

I realize this is late again, and everyone has probably already submitted their individual evaluations, but I should put this up here anyway. This week, my main concern was to get the website done. We had a basic idea at the start of the week. My main goal was to get all of the links working on Monday. We got these to work, and then we looked at how we can improve them. I worked with the front end team to get all the links on there and getting them in order.

Once more, slightly late

Xwing328 — Sun, 12/14/2008 - 15:20

This week was, to be honest quite crazy. All of the projects culminated this week, and it resulted in a huge lack of sleep. Fortunately, for our English project, everything finally started to come together. This week, we completely rewrote the "manage content" portion of the website in order to streamline the process of creating, editing, and deleting pages. With our original design, it would have proved impossible to add new sections to the site, once the initial design was finalized.

week 16

s5m32l3 — Sat, 12/13/2008 - 00:07

This week our team was busier than the past weeks. I helped update the Gantt chart. We had to add some more time to some tasks; color coordinated some more things, and added a few more things to it. We also kept all the teams on task every minute of the class period because we were pushing it to complete the project on time. We set a couple deadlines to get the website up in time for the docs and testing team to have time to test the site and finish their documents. At the start of every class our team again led a discussion to see where all the teams were at.

Roachel — Fri, 12/12/2008 - 23:59

On Monday this week the documents and testing team was able to start the change manual document. We looked at the website and decided what pages of the website should be used for screen shots in order to explain how to go about changing content for the website. I was supposed to be able to send out my testing form to my group of testers on Monday, but the Frontend team was still making changes to the website. Therefore, the links were not working, so it would be pointless to send out my testing form since the website did not work.

Week 16 Work Blog

RhythmRunneR — Fri, 12/12/2008 - 23:23

This final week has been both stressful and relieving. While we had much to do to get the project completed on time, it was a great feeling having it finished on Friday. On Monday I was not present in class due to staying up late for another project, but I was notified by e-mail that backend had completed a lot of work and that we were finally approaching the finish line. On Wednesday the class was still making minor changes and updates to the site, but for the most part the project was done.

The final week of the project was most likely one of the busiest for the documents and testing team. Most of my time was spent working on the validation portion of our report. The page went through CSS validation through the W3C CSS validator Wednesday evening. One error and a few questionable browser specific issues were discovered. I reported these problems to the coding teams. As of Friday morning the validation service gave our CSS code a clean bill of health.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

It's so sad to see that things have finally come to an end. But as they say, all good things must come to it. The site is out of our hands now, now that we are finished with the class. As it stands, it's workable and with some minor help, the client can get it up and running to how he wants it. It's not 100% done however, and we were not given enough time to get it up to that point. At best, it is at around 80-85% completed. If we had maybe a few more weeks or so, we could've had it all ready to go.

Week 16 - design

lefty150 — Fri, 12/12/2008 - 21:34

On Monday, the design team shared the banner images with the Frontend team. I had most of the banner images on my usb drive, and I gave the banner images (which are intended to be used on the other pages of the website) that I had to the frontend team so that they could have them to add to the current website. We worked on the team’s contribution document in class. I read the design team’s work blogs to gather information for this contribution document.

Week 16

noles32 — Fri, 12/12/2008 - 21:26

In the final week of working on this project the frontend coder team were dazed and confused most of the time. It’s been a very interesting week to say the least about the events that occurred.
