Week 12

cechambe — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 20:08

During week 12 the design group got a good start on the work at hand and was able to accomplish several things. The first thing we did was sit as a group and discuss and view several other Youth websites to determine some things we knew we wanted. We were able to determine that we needed to find something simple that would allow the user to access each part of the site easily and without confusion. The website would need to be broken up into content for jobs, the community center, and the board of directors. Within these three groups there will be expanding menus within with details about other information.
Next thing we did was have each group member create 5 or 6 design mockups. I found an old worksheet used for creating website designs and each group member drew up rough sketches of 5 different website designs. We then took these mockups and were able to create one detailed mockup with multiple color options.
Lastly we received a compact disc with pictures from multiple events the organization has held. We were able to go through them and determine that many of the pictures are blurry or out of focus. We also found some were just pictures that would not look good displayed. However, there were still some pictures with the kids and staff either participating in events or posing for the camera that would look very good displayed on the website.
