Design: Week 16

This was a fairly busy week for design. We got a lot done in the way of finishing the website by Friday and I think we did a pretty good job on getting it all done on time. On Monday I fixed the image links on the bottom of the website. These had previously been misaligned as well as using inconsistent grammar and tenses with the rest of the website. In addition to fixing the images along the bottom of the website I created a 16px x 16px icon that goes in the address bar next to the web address. I created a butterfly for this as that is what the clients symbol is. Also on Monday the group got together and wrote up our document for the other teams to read so that we may be graded by each team. While I was not the one actually typing the document I added my input to what it should say. On Wednesday we got together and finished writing this document and then posted it to the ENGL419 website for everyone else to read. In our original design mock up we had used a picture of a bunch of people holding their hands out on top of each other and we had gotten word that the client really liked that photograph. While we could not use that exact photograph because we did not her permission, on Wednesday I brought in my camera gear so that we could try to replicate the photograph. I had several volunteers to be hand models. I then set up my flash so that I could trigger it via wireless from my camera body and I had an assistant hold the flash aimed through an umbrella on top of the hands. This was to create a softer light than the flash would have created if it was bare. On Friday we gave the other teams their scores as well as explaining why we graded them that way. On Friday I also edited the hands photograph that I had taken Wednesday. I cropped the image and handed it off to front end to be used as a banner. Friday concluded the class.
