Podcast blogging instructions

The instructions for posting your podcast blog entry are first to locate a podcast (a good place to start looking is the examples listed on the Project 2 page). This can be any podcast that you want; it does not have to be the podcast that you will use as the hypothetical venue for Project 2. Select an episode of the podcast and listen to it. Then, on the course site, click on "Create content" and select "Blog entry." Give your blog post a title and select "podcast_blog" in the "Blog tags" drop-down box. In the body of your blog post, do these three things:

  • Provide a link to the podcast episode.
  • Provide a short analysis of the episode using our six rhetorical elements (write only a sentence or two about each element).
  • Pose a question for the class to spark discussion about your podcast.

Podcast blogs must be posted by midnight of the day that they are assigned, so the first group of bloggers must have their blogs posted by midnight of Wednesday, Sept. 24. The reason for this is to allow time for the class to listen to the different podcast episodes and post a comment to one of the blogs. Posted blogs will appear in the "Recent blog posts" list on the right side of every page. They will also appear in the "Blogs" link in your navigation menu. All students, even bloggers, are responsible for posting a comment to one of the blogs before the following class meeting every time. Bloggers should be prepared to discuss their topic with the class for 5-10 minutes during the following class meeting. Their purpose is to start a conversation about their topic by discussing their own thoughts, covering the comments they have received, and asking new questions.
