I think of rhetoric as the the prescribed followings or thoughts of a group of people(often written down). Also as what a person says (which is often the same thing).

I define rhetoric as a means of communication in which such things as the audience, environment, and context of the situation are taken into consideration.

I believe the definition of rhetoric is the use of communication to make people understand what it is you are trying to tell them through language and other communication.

Rhetoric is the art of using the combiniation of all the available means of communication with creativity to one's advantage.
