are we able to do a website for a company?

Would a portfolio web-site be an acceptable medium for this project?

if we do something like miniclip, is there a minimum length required?

cmmazeik | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:09

For the multimedia text example, do we just write something and say it will be up on a certain website? Could you explain this example a bit more please?

What specific media methods have been used in the past to do this project? Is it websites/ flash movies/ what else?

What exactly does our presentation involve and how long will it be? Do we present our design plan with the material or is the class a test audience?

You commented that this would be a chance to learn some new multimedia design tools. Would this learning be self-guided or will we have seminars about some of the tools?

mcatt | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:11

I was just wondering if this is completely open, or does it have to be educational in any way.

bmartz | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:11

I guess I'm not understanding what exactly our purpose is here. Maybe it is more open-ended than I think. Are we supposed to advertise something? Is there something that our presentation is supposed to actually do for the audience?

Amber | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:12

You said that you want us to select something that petains to our major feild or other interests. Does that mean we could make a multimedia project for a lab we work at or a student organization we are in?

Does or project need to be veiwable through the internet, like a website or flash project?

What are the requirements for the interactive flash text?

One beneficial (for me) project would be one that involves learning a completely new tool (say flash). Obviously, whatever I produce will seem trivial to someone who has actually done something similar in the past. How will you go about grading in this case?

Sbudnik | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:14

What would be an acceptable length of a project be? (like a power point or web page)

nickd | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:14

What all would go in the assessment rubric? Also, for the assessment rubric is there specific criteria it has to meet.

slmcnutt | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:14

Could you elaborate a bit about "sufficient scope"?

All that really means is that people won't be able to say they'd like to do a drawing of a stick figure or something. It is just to ensure that people are investing a sufficient amount of themselves in this project. What that actually means will vary from case to case, so we will discuss individually what you would like to do and what needs to be done to make sure that the scope is sufficient.

I would like to create a 'Professional Portoflio' website that would showcase all of my work. For the purpose of this assignment would it be better to only showcase my work from this class?

RE:

jtirrell | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:59

No, if it's a professional portfolio, it should look and function like a professional portfolio. Our last assignment in this class is a portfolio that covers the work done in this class. You can append that onto your professional portfolio then if you like.

trutherf | Tue, 2007-03-27 16:16

Would a Flash Intro for a website be extensive enough or should the project be a whole website?

RE:

jtirrell | Tue, 2007-03-27 18:03

It could be enough. It would depend on what the intro entailed, but it would be a possibility.

Since we are going to set our own rubric, how are you going to ensure that we dont have very low or very high expectations?

You'll be submitting your rubric to me and I'll add my input to avoid situations like this. It won't just be you dictating your own terms.

Brownie | Thu, 2007-03-29 01:44

In that case, I have a similar question to the one Alexie asked in class. In my case, the only example that I can even think of doing is the powerpoint presentation but I dont think that is what I want to do, so will I be given ample time/smaller goals to finish the project on time if I take on something that I have to learn from scratch(and in a quick crash course kind of way)?
