I chose Octavarium by Dream Theater which is well designed all the way through. I'll post pictures of the different parts of the album.
At first this album cover seems a tad bit simplistic, but if you look closer there are a few elements at work. First there is the obvious circle of fire that represents the asteroid that is headed to the earth in the movie, but the less obvious element is that there is an asteroid within an asteroid right behind the title of the album. The big red circular asteroid seems to give the effect of “Oh crap we are all going to die” which is further exemplified by the fact a big red ring of fire like material, which looks like magma shooting out of a volcano.
When thinking about what album had a lot of content to look upon this one album came to mind. The album called Dookie by Green day is described by planes flying around and dropping bombs of dookie. When i originally saw this album I never did much thought into looking at the art. I just listened to the music. After going back and looking at the album art I saw just what they were dropping. These planes were dropping tons of crap onto a cityscape. After doing a little research the album art designer was trying to show i found some very interesting things.

Before this project I rarely paid close attention to album art. From the CD's I have purchased over the years, none of the covers were as creative in my mind as Radiohead's. Before learning more about what makes a great album cover I always regarded Radiohead's album covers to be the best. I choose to analyze Kid A over there other albums because I feel that the music is depicted perfectly through its cover.
