This wiki is for Tirrell's Group 5 to use during the Service Learning project. This wiki can be used for any purpose that the group wants. It will not be graded in any way.

Anyone in the group may edit this page. The "Revisions" link above (next to "Edit") should allow you to see changes to this page. You may also make comments and attach files (drafts, for example). Be careful not to delete this page. When you are ready to edit, erase this text and begin.

Um i'm not sure how easy it would be to transfer everything over to publisher. I have fixed the problem we were having with the background and i think that we should just stick with word since we only have the final draft left. As far as the meeting goes i know monday at 6 worked for all you guys last time. i will try to get on if i can but if not you guys can fill me in on tuesday.

Brochures

So I looked at the comments that we received on our last brochure and made some changes but I had trouble trying to change anything with format so I didn't do that. I figured we can also discuss this stuff tomorrow during our meeting but I wanted to make sure we had somewhere to start. Some things that need to be changed but I don't know how to do or questions I have are:
- How does this brochure fold? I'm not familiar with 4 panel brochures so I was curious and wanted to make sure that we had it setup right.
- I think that we need to consider changing the background color and text colors. We had a lot of concerns with that on our comments. We at least need to change some of the text. I changed a couple of the colors but I think we need a better color scheme. When we do this we also need to make sure that it prints out the right colors.
- Make sure the dates are in chronological order for the volunteer activities. They should be listed in order:
1. Procurement
2. Decorating
3. Wrapping
4. Set up
5. Pick up team
6. Poinsetta delivery
7. Meat prep
- I think the picture next to decorating is actually a picture of poinsettas instead of trees.
- When I was changing the text I somehow got rid of the black line above set up on the grey version that I have below.
- The picture next to pick up team needs to be moved to take down.

Some of the changes that I made and attached below are:
- Removed picture from poinsetta delivery
- Tried to make dates stick out more by making them red on the color version and bold on the grey version
- Removed SHARE program
- Changed the descriptions of volunteer activities so that they were easier to read
- Removed "struggling families" sentence
- Put commas on 3,000 and 1,000
- Changed "needy families" to "children in attendance"
- Changed dishes to kitchen help
- Removed "those in need"
- Removed "cash, check, etc" sentence from above the form since it was repeated on the form.

Hope these changes look okay to you all and are a start for our final draft. Talk to you tomorrow at our meeting at 6pm EST.

Meeting

Okay so here is the update from our meeting for Steven and so everyone else knows exactly whats going on. If something is wrong or doesn't make sense let me know. We decided to go back to a tri-fold brochure because we feel that we have so much information that it is almost overwhelming and some of it we don't really need, plus we aren't sure how you fold the quad fold. So Rachel is making some changes and moving some things around and then posting those changes. Nick and I are going to work on the text and make sure everything is okay. We have split it up and will post our parts when we are done. Steven we decided you could be in charge of the design since you seem to know what you are doing in that part and the rest of us don't really know. We need to change some of our colors so you can look at that and see what you think. When you are done with that part you can post it on here hopefully by Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Then we can all look at it and make sure everyone is okay with it and also someone can print it out to make sure the colors and everything look right. Hope this makes sense and let me know if there is anything else that we need to do!

New Draft

Here is the updated draft. I looked over Rachel's draft and just made sure the text was okay. There wasn't many changes. Nick, I went ahead and looked over the whole draft so you can just look over it and see if anything else needs to be changed and post it. Steven, you can start working with the design. I don't know what color scheme we want to use but we just need to make sure that it prints out right. If you can post the updated draft with the design done by Tuesday night/Wednesday morning that would be great so that everyone could look over it and make sure everyone is okay with it.

Looks great

Everything looks great! I made one change to the last draft posted. I changed "Please send the following form to:" from grey to white so that it would be easier to read. I printed it out and all the colors look good and everything is easy to read! Nice job everyone! All we need to do now is post the grey version and I think we should be set!

I think the color draft looks great. I am going to add squares for people to check boxes in the return volunteer form, but other than that I think it looks great. I am heading ot kinkos tonight and I might have them print it so I can see how it folds and looks. I can convert it to pdf tomorrow and submit it after everyone has seen it and had a change to make suggestions.

Hey everybody I think the brochure looks great. The change in color makes a big difference. I made some minor changes to the "Can't be there on Christmas" section. The comments from the CFRC said that this section seemed like notes and that it did not flow. I added simple words like "are needed" instead of "needed" and "interested in" and "Volunteers who want to...". Everything else looked good. I did write the Group Activity report for last week and I will write the last one on Fri or Sat. If you don't like the changes I made just let me know. But I think we are good to go. I have attached my changes below.

final versions

The final versions of the brochure have been sent to everyones email, the wiki is having some errors at the moment. Rachel, if you have any trouble converting them to pdf files let me know.

They look good! I made one

They look good! I made one little change to the grey version, I just made the dates under the volunteer activities bold. I printed it out and everything looks good and is easy to read. I am also posting the final color version from the email that Steven sent us since he had trouble posting it on here earlier. It looks like we are done unless anyone else has any changes that they think need to be made. Good working with you guys!

I don't have the files right now because I'm at home and my computer is up at school. If someone has them on hand and can send them to him that would be great! Great job everyone and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Great job everyone, it was a pleasure working with all of you. I don't have the files saved to my computer and honestly I don't trust myself saving and sending the masters. I will if no one else can. I'm sure I can save them from this wiki page. Let me know if I need to, or if there are any problems.
