1. Vet Technician at Janssen Veterinary Clinic in Sheridan, IN. My supervisor is Dr. Scott Thompson DVM. I started here in May 2007 and am still currently employed. My job responsibilities include everything the vet doesn't do that is needed to be done for each patient. This includes anesthetic, treatments, restraining, collecting blood samples, etc. Horse Care Coordinator at Purdue University's CHAPS Program. I started this at the end of April and am still currently employed. My supervisor is Dr. Colleen Brady. My job responsibility is to manage and care for the horses used in the program. Vet Assistant for Michigan City Animal Hospital in Michigan City, IN from 2004-2006. My supervisor was Dr. Rex Bailey DVM. My job was to restrain and assist doctors with all patients that were seen at the animal hospital. I had a wide range of specific duties. Vet Assistant for Maple City Animal Hospital in LaPorte, IN from 2001-2005. My supervisor was Dr. Janet Weiss DVM, I again had a wide range of expectations duties but overall was there to assist the doctor with all patients. Kennel help at Maple City Animal Hospital in LaPorte, IN from 1999-2001. My supervisor was Dr. Janet Weiss DVM. My job requirements consisted of cleaning cages, walking dogs, feeding and bathing animals and preparing animals when it was time for them to leave. 2. Yes I have volunteered and still volunteer out at CHAPS. My supervisor when volunteering is the Volunteer Coordinator Jenna Manns. 3. I have not participated in any internships. 4. My equine management course and my basic accounting course have helped me the most in managing the horses at CHAPS. I have a working knowledge of the ideal situation and can fit our budget in to adjust and manage the horses accordingly. My animal anatomy and animal nutrition courses have also been very useful in the vet clinic and in managing the horses. 5. I received a scholarship from Whirlpool based on my involvement in the community and school and my academic performance. 6. I would love to pursue a career in equine management or become a small animal technician. I am very good at what I do and feel that if I were to go to school to be a registered vet tech i would do very well since I know and have mastered majority of the skills they teach you. I am eager to learn and succeed which is important when in the equine industry because things are changing all the time. My communication skills are also very good when working one on one with clients about their pets. 7. I can speak Spanish fairly fluently but do not have much experience with speaking in large groups. I tend to do okay when it is a few people but become nervous around several people. 8. I am not the greatest on the computer but have mastered the Microsoft Office programs; Word, Powerpoint, Excel 9. I am comfortable working around laboratory equipment and anesthetic and x-ray machines.
