JetBlue Crisis

The article I chose to use came from Forbes.com. In the beginning, it summed up the events and details of the JetBlue crisis. Then, it went on to discuss the way the CEO, David Neeleman, handled the situation. The article was mainly praising him for stepping up and apologizing to the public, rather than hiding from it. The article compares Neeleman to other CEOs, such as Kevin Burke, the CEO of the New York City utility firm Con Edison. As the article states, Burke was "hidden away in an air-conditioned office during a 10-day power outage at the height of the summer heat wave last year." It continued to tell of Burke's lack of apology or explanation. Overall, the article praises Neeleman's behavior and response to such a crisis.

I think this article will be very helpful to the corporate communication project. The details, such as the number of flights cancelled will be very helpful in writing the press release. Also, by comparing the actions of JetBlue's CEO with those of other CEOs, I will have a much better idea of the proper tone to use when writing my letter and press release.
